OSU honored at Red's Game - abeandip - 04-08-2015 07:44 PM

Ohio St at Great American

As much as I would like to hate on the $uckeys being mentioned during a Red's game, you have to admire Urban's effort to increase his footprint in Cincinnati. I would love to see CTT get the Bearcats this type of exposure. Any thoughts?

On a side note, Lance is screening calls. This is also the first time I have experienced this type of crap radio 03-banghead 03-banghead 03-banghead

As much as it sucks seeing a team from Columbus honored in Cincinnati, I can't blame the Reds. There might be just as many O$U Reds fans as there are UC Reds fans. Why would you not want to reach out to your fan base. They also honored uk's 2012 national championship too. To victor goes the spoils.

They interviewed Urban during the rain delay. Thom B. asked him flat out why Cincinnati isn't much of an OSU town like the rest of the state (in so many words). Without hesitation Urban said because the University of Cincinnati has such a great program. Didn't say because fans also have Reds, Bengals, XU. Class move by Urban.

Very simply any supporter of to$u is a POS.

Here's to hoping that opposing teams' fans don't judge our fan base based on your posts.

To be honest, most radio calls are cringe-worthy. It's amazing the banana phone lasted as long as it did.

It is annoying to me, but mostly because UC is not winning big and is in a **** conference.

I get that Columbus and Lexington are part of Reds country but Cincinnati is not OSU country nor is it UK country.

I think this sums up why this doesn't sit well with me. Bohn saying at the last Town Hall mtg that when he spoke to Gene Smith on the phone recently he said he was told even before the conversation started to not even mention scheduling MBB, because tO$U is not willing to do it under any circumstance. If you can find your way down for a spring football game or to a MLB game, I'll draw you a map on how to get to the Shoe. Sack up, suckeyes.

C. Trent Rosecrans @ctrent
people here cheered more than anything RT @llabrecque: @ctrent do reds realized, or care, how many people r upset over the osu invite?

RE: OSU honored at Red's Game - JackieTreehorn - 04-08-2015 08:51 PM

If UC won a NC in football or MBB, would they be honored on center ice at a bluejackets game?

Beats the hell out of me, but you're comparing apples to oranges.

If the Dayton Flyers won the national title in basketball, they'd have been honored. As would Kentucky, UL and other area schools I'm sure.

I remember LOTS of Ohio State fans being angry about that one: "why are the Reds honoring a team that's not even in the same state!!! Screw the Reds, I'm boycotting them."

It is kind of funny, no complaints from OSU fans now.

RE: OSU honored at Red's Game - ohio1317 - 04-08-2015 09:03 PM

The professional teams have wide followings. Lots of Reds fans in Kentucky. Columbus for it's part is split between both instate teams. I'd say the Reds have a slightly bigger following traditionally, but the city has had more transplants from northern Ohio than southern Ohio in the past couple decades and this has evened things out (in football though the Browns have an advantage and for some reason a good chunk of people root for the out of state Steelers too)

Makes me not want to attend or watch a Reds game. If I'm not watching it neither are my sons. I think the Reds are penny wise and pound foolish trying to build a legacy. Castellini nor some of his partners will ever grasp this aspect but The Dewitt family gets it.

Also, did the Reds honor Lousyville when they won the MBB NC
a few years back? At least the AAA farm team is there.
