Looking at the Coleman Dance Card - CougarRed - 03-13-2015 09:26 AM

Tulsa is still the first team out.

The good news is that several teams right behind them have no chance of overtaking them.

Old Dominion lost early in the CUSA tourney. Syracuse is ineligible. SFA and Buffalo won't get in if they lose in their league tournament. Wofford is already in. Stanford, Illinois and A&M lost yesterday, and Kansas St lost to TCU on Wednesday.

That leaves Tulsa, Dayton, Richmond and UCLA as the de facto first four out.

Ahead of Tulsa, Miami, Texas and Ole Miss lost yesterday. BYU's season is over. So none of those schools can gain any more ground.

Tulsa needs Arizona to beat UCLA today, and for Davidson and San Diego St to win their conference tournaments, thereby pinning another loss on Boise St, Colo St, Richmond & Dayton.

And Tulsa needs to make the finals of the American tournament.

If all that happens, they've got a shot.

Of course, I am pulling for Tulsa but only if they beat UH tonight.

Unless Tulsa loses to Houston, they will not fall behind Ole Miss or Miami/FL.

They were a long shot anyway, but Richmond is now (just lost a must-win game to VCU) officially off the board, and I'd guess that Purdue is now (avoided the upset to Penn State) a lock if they weren't already.

I'm still trying to figure out how Purdue is a lock. They are 4 and 6 on the road for the year. The committee looks at road performance, at least they used to. They lost to Garner-Webb (145 RPI) and North Florida (167) representing bad loses. They are mediocre 12 and 10 against top 150. Their OOC SOS is 230. That warrants a lock?

Sfink I'm inclined to agree with that but check back in 48 hrs. and you'll see Purdue on the board. Call it bias by the Selection Committee or whatever, but Purdue will be in the field of 68.

I am the disappoint that this was Derrick Coleman related.

It would be nice for Tulsa if Wyoming beat bubble Boise tonight and then Wyoming lost in the conference finals so as not to steal a bid.

RE: Looking at the Coleman Dance Card - Native Georgian - 03-13-2015 09:35 PM

Wyoming up 48-43 with 11-12 min. to go

RE: Looking at the Coleman Dance Card - NBPirate - 03-13-2015 09:53 PM

Is Boise not the 25th ranked team in the country? How are they a bubble team?

Was not SMU the 25th ranked team in the nation last year going into the conference tournament?

Losing to Wyoming would be their 5th loss outside the Top 100.

They have two Top 50 wins.

I still feel bad for the players sitting in Moody Coliseum and not getting picked

That had to suck.

I've always wondered something. When teams who won their conf. tourney are flashed on the screen during the selection show, why do they cheer like they weren't sure if they were getting into the tournament?

And Richmond and UCLA lost.

Need Dayton and Wyoming to lose tomorrow. And Tulsa needs to beat UConn.

Or UConn needs the run the table.

Wyoming is now up to 79 tonite

They are part of the secret SMU Strength of Schedule Brigade also including around 81 UCSB, around 82 Eastern Washington and No. 126 Texas Southern plus Gonzaga and Arkansas. Remember Texas Southern beat Michigan St and K-State and had No. 1 Non-Conference Strength of Schedule. They are 17-2 since. These schools have really given SMU a little boost in RPI-now 15

Because some TV guy tells them to cheer because they are on TV
