Good and fair review, one statement stands out to me "But while NIU might not have the same recruiting credentials, the Huskies have the rings."

So I know many of you can take this statement various ways which we've discussed before many times on this board, but I will say this:

Why at this point do we not have the same or even better recruiting credentials than the other teams in the MAC? If you look at it we consistently win, go to/win in Detroit, have some of the best facilities in the MAC Yordan/CPC, and go to bowl games. If I look at it we should be blowing away the other teams in the MAC, recruiting wise.

Yes I know, I know we win. But if we ever hope to elevate this program, we need to consistently get better and get better recruits. While think there has been slow improvement, we should be dominating against the other MAC schools by this time. Imagine what this team could do coaching up players who are still a fit for our system, but came in with higher rankings than they already do?

You somewhat contradict yourself when you say all we do is win while also implying our recruits aren't any good. Clearly, that is not the case. One more time with me now folks...recruiting rankings are pretty much meaningless in the MAC. We can win 11 games every season for the next 10 and as long as we are the MAC we aren't going to be able to "elevate" the type of recruits we get. If you are trying to say that we need to get up to a lower big ten team recruiting standards, i'm here to tell you that will never happen consistently because we aren't in the Big Ten.

"king"...what does it mean to be the "king" of the MAC when we can't beat other conferences' "kings" in the most publicized games (bowls)

We really need to win the bowl game this year. No more excuses.

lolololol 3-0 agains the Big Ten the last two years. Can't beat other conferences!

RE: SB Nation: The big 2015 Northern Illinois football guide: Still the king until proven - scottiep12 - 03-11-2015 01:07 PM

The day we win a recruiting title is the day we probably go backwards. NIU football built on identifying the fits...regardless of the accolades or major bowl games that ain't ever gonna change.

Just keep grinding.

The b1g is our little brother...I'll give him a reprieve.

We got a bit lucky last year that our rebuilding season coincided with a down year in the MAC but we'll take it! Someone had to win it so why not us. The MAC should be a lot better this year. The arrow is pointed up for almost every team with the possible exception of CMU and Buffalo because of their coaching changes. If Hare takes a step forward we can be real good.

The big miss in that article for me was not mentioning Jordan Huff as someone to watch at RB. It says JB and then three freshman. I think Huff is poised for a breakout year.

Yea, I'm expecting big things from Huff this year for sure.

the progress made with beating big 10 teams gets undone when we get smoked by the Marshalls and Utah States of the world.

Wait a minute 7, everyone has zero respect for Purdue, Iowa and Northwestern, so is 3-0 really that special.
At the very least, scottiep12 has lost his mind saying "the B1G is our little brother." That was our first and only win against Northwestern in eight meetings; our first and only win against Iowa in nine meetings; yes, we've beaten PU twice, but our all-time record vs. the B1G is 6-36-1.
If you're just going by recent results, huskiealum03 is correct in saying we haven't dominated other conference "kings" as evidenced by scores against Marshall and Utah State.
We've been good and we keep getting better, but exaggeration is the same as others not being smart enough to respect us.

Now you have done it. Big 10 rage has been sparked haha

And plus you have to imagine a lot of those 42 games were road games vs the Big 10 and obviously you stack the deck against on the road. Even so, the Big 10 has been NIU's little brother lately.

I liked how the author called EMU the confidence booster of the MAC.

Hey!! Nobody in their right mind would think that unless he was recruited by WMU!
