Saw with the Nova win today that combined with Gonzaga losing to BYU- Nova is now projected to be a #1 seed.
Obviously great for them. The only drawback now is any BE team seeded 8 or 9 would have a 1/3 chance of drawing Kentucky in the 2nd round, as obviously can't be bracketed with Nova. Not sure what the rules are for the regional semi's- but if can't meet there either, would be a 1/3 chance of drawing Kentucky if we have any 4/5's.
Part of me would love to see Nova in the final 4 and playing Kentucky- maybe flash backs of 30 years ago in Kentucky????

I thought teams from the same conference can be placed anywhere now. The committee is just supposed to try to avoid conference matchups.

not quite...
This means that teams from the same conference that played only once during the season can now face each other as early as the third round of the championship. Subsequently, teams from the same league that met twice during the year will not potentially play each other until the regional semifinals. Also, teams from the same league that played each other three times during the course of the season cannot play until the regional championship game.
so first off- Georgetown and Butler already can't play until regional championship game
anyone who plays in the BET can't play until the regional championship game
anyone who doesn't play in the BET can't play until the regional semifinals...
So the 8/9 point remains- they have a 1/3 chance of being in with Kentucky.
The 4/5 point would be for the teams that Nova has to play in the BET SF and Final- if they are a 4/5 seed, they couldn't be in with Nova at that point....

I dunno. I don't know that I want any part of UVA. They just dismantle you defensively. I'd take Duke any day over UVA.
