2015 MAC Championship Date? - NIURedBlack - 01-13-2015 04:26 PM

Noticed on http://www.fbschedules.com that the date for the MAC Championship is listed as SATURDAY, Dec. 5. Is this just a typo or projection? Just curious if I missed something, would be kinda cool to have the MACC on a Saturday.

That would really suck if we went there 5 years for Friday games and didn't get back there for when they finally switch to a Saturday.

Not sure what you saw or if they updated it, but I'm seeing this:

Quote:The complete 2015 MAC Football Schedule with dates will be released after March 1. The 2015 Marathon MAC Championship Game will be played at Ford Field in Detroit on either Friday, Dec. 4 or Saturday, Dec. 5.

Will the MAC move the game back to home field for the highest rated team??? Seems like the best move to make

Just a thought but maybe they are waiting to see the NFL schedule to see if Detroit has a home game on that sunday. I would think they would need more than 24 hours or so to turn the field from college to pro, but I don't know what all that process entails so I could be way off base with this thought!

Could it go either way? A NFL game in Detroit on THURSDAY or SUNDAY?

I would think a Thursday night game at Ford Field might push back MACC to Saturday. The teams could not practice on Thursday.

Yep, the Lions might have added appeal for national telecasts next year esp. if Suh stays.

The game being announced for Friday OR Saturday has happened the past several years. Nothing new. ESPN doesn't have anything else to show on Friday night other than maybe 1 decent basketball game so they will definitely put the MACC on Friday so they can get some viewers for the advertisement revenue.

That is true, but the NFL could preempt a Friday game by playing a Thursday night Lions game.

I'm not saying that is what the MAC or ESPN want, but the MAC plays 2nd fiddle to the Lions, in the Lions' stadium.

Well then hopefully the NFL makes the game on Friday night so it would have to be on Saturday.

That can't be... NFL: Thursday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, Monday night (until later in Dec.)

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but thanksgiving is on 11/26. The Lions won't play back to back Thursday games.

The Bears & Cowboys did this year. They both played on Thanksgiving and then played each other the following week.

I guess we'll know what in March (?) when the NFL releases its schedule.

I think it is safe to assume MACC will be a Friday unless a Thursday night NFL game is played at Ford Field.
