Bahamas Bowl -- Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan - TIGERBANDIT - 12-24-2014 11:17 AM

Interesting Bowl Matchup! 04-rock

I think Western Kentucky is going to take this one.

RE: Bahamas Bowl -- Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan - HeartOfDixie - 12-24-2014 11:20 AM

I think the most interesting part of it is its location.

That said, it is a pretty neat little matchup. They picked well.

My bet is on WKU as well. They are a lot better team than their 7-5 record would suggest, a lot better.

Yep, I'm interested due to the location. Not sure if I care about the bowl itself, but I want to watch to see location and what the local reaction is.

I'm interested to see what the crowd looks like. If the WKU team that beat Marshall shows up today, this game could get really ugly.

Also, I thought I read that CMU's RB Rawls is out for the game, and he's much better than anybody else they have. What's the spread on the game?

I don't know the spread. Neither teams seems to want to play defense today. I'm wondering what the over/under is right now?

Crowd looks Potato Bowl esque but this has to be expected.

Any game on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day will be very scarce. The Hawaii bowl without Hawaii in it will be very low attendance.

I wonder with the other side of the stadium looks like. Not much different I suppose but I do hear so crowd noise.

This is a location that need to be after Christmas or New Years so that there is ample time to get better travel plans.

Yea, that's going to be a problem this bowl game won't really be able to overcome.

Most of your G5 teams don't have the alumni wealth base to fill a destination like that.

Sidewalk fans generally fall by the wayside on long travels.

It's still a cool idea for a bowl game.

Of all the new bowls, this one is the shakiest...from finances to local support (mostly due to corrupt politicians). I've read where they've committed to 5 years of "sports tourism" and if they don't get the returns they expect, the plug will be pulled. I'm guessing CUSA moves this bowl to the US and operates similar to the Miami Beach bowl in the next go around...upgrading opponents when possible.

I really did not expect a crowd of any size in the Bahama Bowl. Basically a 4 hour commercial for the Bahama travel industry and a good experience for the 2 football teams plus a bonus game for all of us college football junkies.

Agree. Bahamas is a cool idea but I don't see this lasting past the current contract. I would love to see a second bowl in San Antonio.

This. Having been to the Bahamas several times no way locals are getting behind this one. It's great for the kids though.

If the bowl were to fail, I'd like to see it replaced with a new one in either St. Louis or Indianapolis, both have domes and a good downtown area. It would receive a good crowd (for G5 bowl standards at least) with it being close to the MAC footprint and not terribly far away from some C-USA schools. It's not the Bahamas by any means, but C-USA already has Hawaii and the MAC has Boca.

Some of us MW fans want the Potato bowl to move to LA. Rename it the Christmas bowl as that bowl organization tried to get it sanctioned. However, they were trying to put in the LA Coliseum but should start out in the StubHub center with the LA Galaxy play.

I'm still amazed the Camelli Bowl came together before the Christmas Bowl. At this point 40 bowls is plenty (I'm counting the Cure Bowl). No more additions just replacements please.

I agree, no more bowls but I'd like to see one relocate to San Antonio also. With the Alamo Bowl on 1/2. They could put one on the 12/30.

RE: Bahamas Bowl -- Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan - NIU007 - 12-24-2014 02:19 PM

Sure would be nice if they had one bowl, just one bowl, within driving distance of the midwest. Like others said, it would be a replacement, not an additional bowl.

It had to be obvious that hardly anybody would show up for the Bahamas bowl.

RE: Bahamas Bowl -- Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan - HeartOfDixie - 12-24-2014 02:29 PM

It's not even a game. WKU putting CMU down

I bet the kids that went to the game had a blast playing around in the Bahamas. That's pretty awesome considering that's what the whole thing is about.

There's the Quick Lane Bowl.
