Watts meeting with faculty - Agent Orange Sauce - 12-14-2014 05:30 PM

Watts has scheduled a meeting with all faculty of A&S Tuesday morning.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - demiveeman - 12-14-2014 05:58 PM

This is already well-known. A&S isn't the only school he'll be meeting with.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - Agent Orange Sauce - 12-14-2014 06:03 PM

OK, sorry for the redundancy. Carry on.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - the_blazerman - 12-14-2014 08:53 PM

& what exactly is the agenda?

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - scales - 12-14-2014 09:36 PM

Start with A&S because that's where the bulk of the left wing non-athletic supporting faculty reside.

He will pump and bribe for the next several weeks to avoid the no vote in January.

Sickening.

I've seen Blazers of every wing on the front lines of this fight. We will not be divided by party, by race, by class or by gender. We are all green.

A&S is a target for specific reasons; Watts has to go where he has strengths. He's doing some things that may cause blowback on his own cause, but he has little choice but to try (well, he could just rescind, resign or both, but it's growing apparent that he really is a sociopath).

If you graduated from a current A&S program, or are a current student, e-mails to faculty with whom you have/had a personal relationship are very important right now. Make it personal, one-on-one, drawing on that connection. We have one huge advantage over Watts: all we have to do is tell the truth.

And the one thing you have to remind them....

After all the lies and subterfuge do you really want this man in charge of your future at UAB?

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - 58-56 - 12-14-2014 11:17 PM

Truth. And be really, really careful if he asks you for a departmental Christmas wish list.

Watts meeting with faculty - BirminghamBound - 12-14-2014 11:37 PM

So... Watts might show up at the SOB faculty meeting tomorrow in the AM. Not sure if this has been posted already.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - BlazerRob - 12-15-2014 01:48 AM

Will somebody just tell Chainsaw Ray to please explain the entire process and timeline for the football decision. Tell him you don't care about what he's saying today until he explains his actions from 2 weeks ago because there is so much controversy flying around that he can't be given the benefit of the doubt.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - Smaug - 12-15-2014 10:50 AM

My emails to the senate boil down to this question:

Do you trust this president to do right by your program, your students, your alumni, your community, and your university?

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - nicknitro19 - 12-15-2014 10:58 AM

Personally I think Watts' resignation is imminent. He cancelled his speech at the Homewood Chamber of Commerce and he didn't speak at the graduation ceremonies this weekend. He can no longer function as the President in public he is forced to leading behind closed doors.

But, I will still be writing the senate faculty next year if he is still there.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - mixduptransistor - 12-15-2014 11:08 AM

Just temper your expectations. A "favorable" vote by the Senate doesn't mean the football team is immediately reinstated. Many of those who vote the way you want them to don't necessarily want football to return. There are many steps to the process.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - Smaug - 12-15-2014 11:11 AM

I don't think anyone expects football to magically reappear the minute he's gone, but recognize that his leaving is a necessary first step toward that end.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - Doktyr X - 12-15-2014 11:28 AM

Watts has to go; he will not have a change of heart and reinstate it. He does not care about his legacy. Football is done for the immediate future unless some miracle occurs.

You guys have me paranoid now about the spies on this sight so I'm going to have to be vague henceforth. Understand, though, that having Governor Bentley, Dr. Watts, and some of the trustees go on record as saying it was all Watts' call to end football will help UAB in the long. That certainly wasn't the case when the BOT interfered with UAB football to deny UAB Jimbo Fisher and a new stadium. Great days are ahead for UAB, gentlemen. Just keep fighting.

RE: Watts meeting with faculty - the_blazerman - 12-15-2014 01:24 PM

If it is the president's call, then maybe an OCS is the president's call & an IPF is also the president's call.

Seems like a few years ago it was the BOT's call but now apparently the president has the authority to do all of this.

The BOT hopes everyone notices the change, especially SACS..
