Maybe not the PR firm. Just the News presenting the other side. Actual journalism at work being objective.

Yep. Talk about the good side of those who murder people as well.

We all have good sides.

Not objective. The objective would have already surfaced before his admission of lies on cover up.

Wait a minute.......there is another side to this? Kind of like letting Sandusky air out his side of the seductions.

Yeah because losing football is just like child rape.

I read the article. Gorrie defended Watts. He also is rebuilding Sewell Thomas Field to the tune of thirty million dollars. John Johns is another Crimson Tide graduate and Football Supporter. They can take their comments and stick them where the sun don't shine.

It is obvious that the "ONLY" ones who comment in support of Watts decision are either Alabama Football Boosters/Supporters/Graduates or Crimson Tide Fans.

Dig a little deeper, Mr. Wright.(the author of the article).

John D. Johns is a member of the dreaded UA BOT.

It would appear that Mr. watts (just call me Bama Ray) needs to be evaluated for a multiple personality disorder. Psychopaths often are reported to be normal to their neighbors while displaying a complete disregard for the well being of others.

I think a more balanced article would have reported on more of the details that came out during the public portion of the faculty senate meeting this past week. This man is not a stable leader but rather has placed the integrity of the entire University in jeopardy by his actions. I thought the comments that were made at the Senate meeting with regard to recruiting (faculty and staff not athletics) were quite telling. The professor wanted to know how we were supposed to get someone to up and move to Birmingham when all they have to do is Google UAB and see what happened to the football coach. Past behavior is an excellent predictor of future behavior and Ray Watts has shown that he will lie, lie, and lie again if it suits his needs.

This cancerous man must be removed from power; he should step down but if he refuses then he should be removed and further disgraced.

You miss the point young grasshopper

When you mistreat people like Sandusky, Cosby, Watts/BOT - your day is eventually coming.

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - ATTALLABLAZE - 12-14-2014 10:52 AM

It's the OR firm at work what we are hearing.

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - Memphis Blazer - 12-14-2014 11:01 AM

Yeah, we are hearing that too.

Actually our side is the killer - 20 million a year for medical or sports. The dollars for medical may actually save lives and sports is good entertainment and may help enrollment05-stirthepot

I believe that some of the BOT have evil motives but some of the SOM/east siders have better motives than we do

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - BlazrDawg - 12-14-2014 11:48 AM

Wonder why Ray chose to leave the state to attend Medical School elsewhere. Surely his creds would have gotten him a nice scholarship on the Southside.

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - legalblazer - 12-14-2014 11:50 AM

Watts said the school isn't spending less money on sports. It is just going to redistribute the money from football on other sports (another head scratcher). So that money isn't going to the SOM or research according to the official party line.

Which, if that's the case, it should be announced that Bartow is going to undergo a multi-million renovation to create club level seating and other 21st century amenities.

However, we know it's just more 4 + 11 = 42 math.

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - Doktyr X - 12-14-2014 12:10 PM

The Wattsist (yeah, I just invented a new word) forces are very desperate, and they are trying to push a strategic plan that will turn UAB into the largest community medical school in the USA. This is the vanguard of their assault this week.

I have no problem with them putting out their side; use the ammunition this article provides to attack them. You already know the arguments. Tear it apart, everything they put out can be used to fight them.

RE: PR firm hard at work this morning. - Hopeful - 12-14-2014 12:12 PM

I don't think this is as much a PR effort here as it is merely trying to be more objective as a news blog. If nothing else, recent events in the news have encouraged reporters and the like to circle around to see the other side sometimes.

The piece was meant to establish and compliment his character for people that didn't know him. His accomplishments are not to be diminished, but, to be brief, I don't really care about the Dr. Watts back then. I don't care to hear testimony of his good will when a lot of it is coming from someone on the board, and a previous president that was forced to resigned for wrongdoing. I don't care about past initiatives when I'm concerned about the present.

I don't see a man that's so busy he has to tend to his gardening with a flashlight. I don't see a man from Birmingham that wants to give back to his community. I don't see someone worth driving any great distance to see. The Dr. Watts I know is a man that feels like he can't go through the front door anymore, a man that feels like he needs armed escort on campus, and someone that is actively degrading and embarrassing the entire university. I don't need to know his past or review his plan. His recent actions said all I need to know about him.
