Yes. It happens every game.

RE: Unbelievable - Marc Mensa - 12-13-2014 07:56 PM

They could have pretty much sat wherever they wanted tonight.

RE: Unbelievable - umtiger94 - 12-13-2014 08:20 PM

The student support here is pathetic. Doesn't bode well for the future. These are supposed to be the future donors and season ticket holders.

RE: Unbelievable - dfwtxtiger - 12-14-2014 10:06 AM

Why would you invest in this coach? Pastner has lost support of not only students, but die hard fans like me. I used to rush home to try and catch the game, even back in the day when we had limited TV exposure, and were in other conferences.

I have become very apathetic about the coach! I hate it for the kids; they still need support. Thank goodness I am at home, yelling and screaming at the TV, because if I were at the Forum, I definitely be escorted out with my comments about the coaching!

Last night, looks like Pastner gave up; didn't use his time outs to try and stop the bleeding. The way the kid are playing is a reflection of the coaching.
What goes on in practice? We have great assistant coaches; why do we consistently have a sub par product?

I know if I performed like that at work, I would probably have been fired, reprimanded, or had no bonuses. Why isn't the administration doing something about this? Bring in consultant, or fire him, and let Aki take over.

Attendance is key guys. Say what you will but I was at the game that ultimately cost West his job. He made two straight bowls and 5 bowls out of 6 years and the apathy of having 4000 on a ESPN game against EC was the death bell for his tenure here. Could be the same for Josh.

Did you see UCLA game vs Gonzaga last night? Many empty seats vs Top 5 team (IMO) in country.

Lack of attendance was also part of Larry Finch's demise.

RE: Unbelievable - Sundanceuiuc - 12-14-2014 02:23 PM

It happened at Illinois.

I sat in the student section as a grad student wearing a Illinois hat and a Memphis sweatshirt. Did that both as Illinois' assembly hall and the Pyramid in the two game '03-'04 series between the Tigers and Illinois...

RE: Unbelievable - tigernole79 - 12-14-2014 02:25 PM

This is hillarious. There were ut fans sitting in the student section when it was #1 vs #2.... so to put that on Pastner is just plain wrong. Low attd numbers also aren't the major factor in basketball as they were in football. Mainly all those seats are paid for, regardless of if someone shows or not.
The 4100 crowd, of which I was a part and even brought guests to (which are now season ticket holders), was not the nail in the coffin. Sounds good around the water cooler or when you are trying to assemble the mob though....
Thanks. I needed the laugh!!

At least he is at the game.

That is not a Pastner problem. We've had that problem (fans of other schools in our student section) forever.

By and large, our fans suck. The students are terrible. The rest of the fans aren't much better. Occasionally, you will see a good crowd, but that's driven by the opponent. The people on this board are usually the exception to that rule.

It's been said over and over...a very small group of donors will make the decision on timing. Plus, Aki is very sick.

Actually I heard someone say on sports radio, we DO NOT have good assistants. I really don't have clue.

It's also happened at Notre Dame / Syracuse once. My GF wore orange when we visited our friend who was a PhD candidate there. All ND colors except her orange and my whatever I wanted to wear that day.

To both fanbases credit (Illinois and ND), they were classy. Ribbing happened, but nothing serious or unfriendly.

We lost to the Illini in that game BTW. Not sure who won Cuse/ND that time...

Yep, if the season doesn't improve, I would assume discussions would be had, but there is no reason to fire someone in season.

Hopefully it gets turned around, but if not, I'd imagine there would be discussions...

Ehhh...UCLA students don't do games, too much other stuff to do. They don't even know where the arena is.

RE: Unbelievable - tigerlands - 12-14-2014 10:07 PM

It was a blowout. 12 minutes to go. Every single crowd in USA leaves early, except a select few. Get over it. Memphis problems are not unique. We only think they are.

I hated to see it, but we've seen it a thousand times over on TV.

03-hissyfit We keep playing like this and our student section will be empty and any fan of the opposition can sit there.

RE: Unbelievable - Mick Light - 12-15-2014 10:00 AM

Maybe it was an OK state fan? They wear that color.
