With social media, I'm sure we'll see this more and more when coaches are fired. However...that dude won a lot of games, certainly odd.

No doubt there will be continued repercussions in Lincoln. I expect a lot more of this - and even more if the team takes a nosedive. Current player attitudes seem to portend of not good things coming up. The state of Nebraska lives, eats, drinks, breathes, and exists through Cornhusker football. I was able to experience a little taste of that when I had a several-day convention in Lincoln. My group was given a behind-the-scenes look at Memorial Stadium and Husker football, and we got to go through the locker rooms and run out on the field (Yes, I DID run!). We were told that on game day, they love to say that Memorial Stadium is the 3rd most populous city in Nebraska.

Interesting stat: Since Bo Pelini became head coach, 43 programs had an 11-win season, 30 have finished a season in the Top 10, and 20 have won a P5 Conference Championship. Pelini did none of these.

Nebraska needs to lower their standards a bit. They won 9+ games every year he was there. This isn't the 90s, and Nebraska is no longer a football powerhouse.

I'm sure most of the locker room is upset. They fired the guy that recruited them. The next guy won't be "their" guy. It's a scary time for them.
I wonder if Nebraska has a plan or was just sick of Pelini. They'll need to hire a big name or the new guy is going to be a really tough spot.

Only downfall of Bo was not winning the big games. Scott Frost would make the most sense. I'm sure Tom Osborne still has a lot of pull at Nebraska.

I'm even more surprised Indiana is keeping Wilson around after he won only 1 Big Ten game this year.

Nebraska fans and alumni think they're still with the Alabamas oklahomas florida, Ohio state etc.
But they're nowhere close to that anymore. They don't have the recruiting base of any of those, the big ten doesn't have the cache of even the big 12. They aren't lkaying the big 12 any more so opportunity to play in texas is now gone.
This is a program that where Bo had them is what they are. Hard to get kids to play in lincoln when they haven't been top 10 in over a decade or so. It could be worse, they could take the tumble places like Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and the U made.

Could be. However, I don't think it got that far. More to do with $. Still have coaches on the payroll that aren't coaching.
