That pretty much nails it.

Although we don't know what they will do with our 3 west division games. You'd think Tulsa would be one since they were one of our misses this year. Navy to open nippert would be awesome. A trip to the liberty bowl next year would be fun too

So that would be a home schedule of
Navy
Alabama a&m
Miami fl
Temple
UCONN
UCF

Away
BYU
Miami oh
ECU
USF
Tulsa
Memphis

UAB has shutdown the football program. They have a game scheduled at Tennessee on September 5th, the same day we have Alabama A&M scheduled. Since they definitely need a game now maybe just maybe they would come on the road and play us in Nippert. It's worth a call.

It's probably going to happen, but I doubt it happens before next year.

Interesting....

Plus it is a "neutral" site game in Nashville. So it's not like a true home game at Neyland they'd be losing. Their options would be limited.

Nashville would be a great road trip. I'd be shocked if Butch would agree to take on a very talented UC squad next season in Nashville or Knoxville. They'll find some sacrificial lamb from the Sun Belt willing to take a ritualistic beating for a big payday.

Just because they announce their program is dead doesn't mean they'd cancel all 2015 games.

Most are saying the plan is to shut the program down completely this week. There would be no program to play the 2015 schedule.

RE: 2015 Schedule? - uccheese - 12-01-2014 08:08 AM

Good info in the first 2 posts especially. For my 2 cents, I don't think we'll miss both Texas teams. Do we know if they're going to make an attempt to make any annual rivalry games? If not, I won't be surprised if we miss Memphis. The only way I could see playing them is if we're going to play them every season.

Otherwise, I'd predict you have the home slate perfect and then put @Tulsa @Houston as our west rd games.

Why would any player stay in a lame duck program?

Players would be given the right to transfer. Even if they keep the program for 2015 only the players who could not get an offer would stay. Who would coach them? Who would go see them play?

What they say "Let's play one more year for Watson?" When it's announced it is the end. Where will they play other sports. CUSA has said - NO! An absolute mess.

If UAB drops FB before 2015 season, UT still plans to open season at LP Field likely v. opponent that was on UAB's schedule, said a source.

RE: 2015 Schedule? - CliftonAve - 12-01-2014 02:16 PM

As much as I would like to play the Vols, we don't need to play them next year. With Miami and BYU on the schedule are OOC will be tough enough. We don't need to do soemthing stupid and load up with three strong opponents like that. Remember: UC's goal every year should be to win the conference and get an Access Bowl. The Access Bowl is given to the the highest ranked G5 school. If we finish with one OOC loss or less (with our current schedule) I would put our chances of an Access Bowl extremely high. The AAC is considered (wrong or right) the best of the G5.

There won't be any other sports much longer.

UAB's other OOC games in 2015 are Georgia State, South Alabama, and Troy. Basically, indycat is 100% correct.

Looking at UAB's potential opponents, all their OOC opponents already have a game scheduled that weekend. In C-USA, everyone but Louisiana Tech, MTSU, North Texas, and Rice also have games scheduled that weekend. Tennessee already plays North Texas at home on Nov 14th, so maybe they'll move that game up? Also, Rice and LT are in the other division from UAB so I'm not sure which of them UAB is even scheduled to play next year.

So that means that MTSU is the only definite candidate right now unless the NT game is moved. Would Tennessee want to play MTSU in Nashville? I don't know the answer to that.

It does not look like a home game with Navy to me.
The West division has to provide 2 away games and one home game for us. I assume we will play Tulsa next year and it will be one of the Away games.

Conference Home -
Temple
UConn
UCF
SMU

Conference Away -
USF
ECU
Navy
Tulsa

If Navy is a Home game it would look like this:

Conference Home -
Temple
UConn
UCF
Navy

Conference Away -
USF
ECU
Houston
Tulsa

I would love to be in a P5 conference, but if we're stuck here then I'm glad we got in the stronger division. I've actually been impressed with some of the competition and it seems like the conference is moving in a positive direction overall.

I'm much more excited about this schedule than I was about this years. (shrug)

RE: 2015 Schedule? - robertfoshizzle - 12-03-2014 11:17 AM

I hope this is the last time we play an FCS team. With all the emphasis on strength of schedule from the playoff committee, you might as well not even play a 12th game if the other option is to play an FCS team.
