C-USA BOWL 2014 SYNOPSIS

Conference USA has five primary agreements and one secondary agreement for the 2014 season. The Bahamas, Boca Raton, Gildan New Mexico, Heart of Dallas and Sheraton Hawai'i Bowls are primary agreements. The Duck Commander Independence Bowl is a secondary agreement.

Conference USA's champion will select which bowl it would like to attend and the remainder of the selections will follow after that, with no particular set order. C-USA teams with seven or more wins will be placed in bowls prior to 6-6 teams.

Conference USA will begin its partnership with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl to begin its bowl season on Saturday, December 20, at 12:20 p.m. MT in Albuquerque, N.M. The league's representative will be matched up against an opponent from the Mountain West Conference. C-USA has previously participated in the New Mexico Bowl one time, as UTEP faced BYU in 2010.

The league will be a part of two brand-new bowls in warm, sunny climates when it faces a Mid-American Conference opponent in both the Boca Raton and Bahamas Bowls. The Boca Raton Bowl will be held at FAU Stadium on the Florida Atlantic campus, with the inaugural game set for Tuesday, December 23 at 6 p.m. EST. The Bahamas Bowl is the only postseason game held outside of the United States and it will take place on December 24 at Noon EST at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. Both games will be televised by ESPN.

Later on Wednesday, December 24, C-USA will compete in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl in Honolulu for the 10th time in the bowl's 13-year history. The league's representative will face a Mountain West Conference opponent in the game, which will kick off at 3 p.m. HT (8 p.m. ET) and be televised by ESPN.

C-USA will participate in the Heart of Dallas Bowl at historic Cotton Bowl Stadium on Friday, December 26. The league's representative will face an opponent from the Big Ten Conference in a game that will air on ESPN, beginning at 11 a.m. CST. North Texas is the defending Heart of Dallas Bowl champion.

The league also has a secondary agreement to play in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., should the ACC or SEC not be able to provide a team for the game. The 38th annual game will take place this December on ESPN.

The I-Bowl bowl is billed as SEC vs. ACC. The ACC already has 10 qualifiers, and could reach 13 (Notre Dame becomes part of the ACC if it doesn't get in an access bowl). The I-Bowl is seventh after the system, so the ACC half of the game is set.

ACC teams likely in the mix: Miami (6-5), N.C. State (6-5), Virginia (5-6), Virginia Tech (5-6) and Pittsburgh (5-6).

Should the I-Bowl not receive an SEC school, the secondary agreement with Conference USA would fill the void. Louisiana Tech (7-4) is already bowl eligible.

Miss St. Nixed the Indy for us last night.

I agree and it is going to be a shame that CUSA might have UAB, MTSU and ODU all be bowl eligible and stay home.

Armed forces and Cactus may be in play. Tech fans only really want HOD. I wish Marshall would want to play in Boca because they recruit Florida so heavily, but you never know.

That was a freak deal. Nobody ever conceived that the SEC could get all but two teams bowl eligible. That and this shows that we must have 6 bowls.

We don't deserve a bowl, so don't worry about us.

Will we ever have 6 guaranteed bowls?? I know the sunbelt will finally pick up another starting next season. How does that happen?

Doesn't the belt have 3 already? We should have 6 before they have 4. Their champion isn't even eligible for a bowl because they were in FCS last year.

Wow, Ga Southern won the conference? That's awesome, good for them.

I like them because they actually have a football program with history and proven success. You have me interested to go look at how their conference went down.

I only look at CUSA, MWC, and AAC tbh.

RE: C-USA BOWL 2014 SYNOPSIS - FlyHawk98 - 11-30-2014 12:10 PM

Dang, Go Southern could have easily won every game but Navy.

1 point loss to NC State, and 4 point loss to Ga Tech.

Lookin like its gonna be Illinoid or Iowa for the Herd. Shame. I was looking forward to getting Miami, or virginia tech just because of name.

Have to think that yesterday's Illinois/NW game was a play-in game for the Big 10 spot in the HOD Bowl.

I think it was, but I'm still holding out hope that Penn state ends up there.
