Bearcats break into USA Today top 30 - eastside cat - 11-23-2014 04:13 PM

Right now the only football team in AAC with votes in AP or USA today polls is Cincinnati Bearcats (7)....in front of Brian, leave your team high and dry, Kelly's ND boys. 02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana04-rock04-rock

RE: Bearcats break into USA Today top 30 - Tigermaniac - 11-23-2014 04:19 PM

Memphis is #32 in the AP bud.

UCF is #35 in AP.

The most movement will be made in the postseason. Not enough marquee games left in conference.

Win your bowls. That is imperative to salvage this down season in the AAC.

Who in the hell have you beat?

A very good ECU team. Toledo is also good (though not as much as the top AAC teams).

Congratulations! Forgot about ECU. You most certainly deserve it. Good Luck!!

no one even notices the very shady busines that is happening with la tech?

they had no votes, lost to odu now have votes....i bet money its marshalls coach or a c-usa coach...

RE: Bearcats break into USA Today top 30 - TripleA - 11-23-2014 05:14 PM

It doesn't matter. This poll and the AP are irrelevant. Only one that matters is the CFP poll coming out at 7:30 ET tonight. And if no G5 makes the top 25, we still won't know where anyone stands with the selection committee.

It's the world we live in as the G-5. There will be a lot of shady business going on.

Memphis and Cincy are both on 5 game winning streaks.

Memphis has the head to head 41-14 win @ Cincy.

Both teams winning streaks started at the same time.

Memphis beat USF, Tulane, Tulsa and SMU.

Cincy beat Tulane, USF, UConn and SMU.

That's a comparable schedule during the 5 game win streak.

The only difference in the 5 game win streak is.

Memphis won @ Temple

Cincy beat ECU @ Cincy.

(Temple beat ECU 20-10)

Cincy started getting votes after a 3 game win streak against SMU, USF and Tulane.

It has nothing to do with S.O.S, head to head or anything. It's just the coaches assistants (Coaches don't actually do these polls) voting on National Perception. Cincy has earned a lot of respect. Memphis is new to this.

At some point you'd think CSU, Boise St. or Marshall would break through.

Memphis, Cincy and UCF need some help and still have work to do.

^^ Three losses won't cut it. Will be interesting to see how it plays out with MU, BSU, CSU. They would all have to lose a game for any AAC team to have a chance.

Um, I don't see UC in the AP poll. Just saying...

RE: Bearcats break into USA Today top 30 - pesik - 11-23-2014 05:25 PM

Tigermaniac ECU is a better win than temple, the same way Houston is a better win than tulane,..so we'll cross that off right now and that isnt even a remote question...

and a loss to memphis (8-3) with your starting qb in a pass happy offense missing half the game, is a better a loss than to houston who is 6-4 ...

Wait a second. I hadn't cared to look, but you got me curious. Here are the AP Poll results for others receiving votes. Memphis got 3 votes, UCF got 1. UC got none:

AP Top 25
WEEK 14
Poll released: Nov 23

Others Receiving Votes:
Arkansas (6-5) 40; LSU (7-4) 39; Nebraska (8-3) 14; Utah (7-4) 14; Duke (8-3) 9; Southern California (7-4) 8; Memphis (8-3) 3; West Virginia (6-5) 2; Texas A&M (7-4) 2; UCF (7-3) 1

RE: Bearcats break into USA Today top 30 - eastside cat - 11-23-2014 05:30 PM

Really. I see that now. Awesome. Doesn't make sense that UC would be getting votes without Memphis and UCF.

Nope. Never said they were. No slamming of UCF or Memphis meant. Just a slam on ND.

I put ECU, UCF, Memphis and UC on par with each other at this point of the year, with the edge to Memphis.

Congrats. Having UCF, Cincy, Memphis, Houston, and ECU (and Temple, perhaps?) in bowls helps our conference image. Need to win more OOC games against P5 opponents; at ECU took care of that business this year.

Memphis has votes. (3) I pointed that out the second the polls came out.
