MBB Student Attendance - JMU13 - 11-22-2014 06:43 PM

First post...hi guys!

Made this account pretty much to respond to a previous comment in another thread. The comment was that no students care about the games.

I'm a 2013 alum still in the area and have personally been to every single basketball game (still have my jacard so i stand in student section on the court) and screamed my head off (and singled out other team players...had one from Radford yell "get off my nuts" to me). There are those of us who are dedicated. When students come to the game, I promise you they get involved in it.

As ALUMNI it is OUR responsibility to stay on the administration and help them promote the games more! I know a lot of current students and many don't even know there is a game that night. Not everyone likes basketball enough to LOOK UP when the games are...but if they're walking to class and see a big sign or something maybe that would help.

I've contacted Bourne before regarding suggestions and he's a pretty nice and open guy...any/all input we can provide to him IN A POSITIVE MANNER would be respected.

Summary: we need to do more, don't put students at fault all the time.

Were you the guy yelling Radford player's names during free throws?

RE: MBB Student Attendance - JMU13 - 11-22-2014 09:37 PM

Ha. Unfortunately. Sorry...

RE: MBB Student Attendance - bridgeforthduke - 11-22-2014 09:44 PM

No it thought it was funny. Especially since the atmosphere was pretty dead so you were loud and clear. I kept looking at Alger and Bourne because they were looking at you but neither ever cracked a smile.

RE: MBB Student Attendance - Deez Nuts - 11-23-2014 11:06 AM

and Charlie King was too busy with his feet propped up on the chair in front of him, and throwing his trash on the floor. I really wanted to go over and say something about him acting like it was his own living room.

Ha, you should have!

...Thus describing our the pride our higher-ups have for the athletic program. Shame.

That is sad. Yet my daughter gets up at a FB game to go to the restroom and ask all those around if they need her to take any trash down. I mean, she will ask total strangers who are close by. There was some of our own trash that was left there from homecoming, that we picked up yesterday(a couple of small container lids that we put mustard in and our 4 tickets for that game were still sitting there), yet CK is a slob.

Haha that's awesome. I had a Marshall player gesture and yell SMD to me once, and had Eric Maynor flip me off. Love things like that, you know you got to them 02-13-banana

Of the students that do go to the games, a good percentage of them seem to get pretty intense and pretty in to it, and of course the band is awesome. Just wish more students actually went, it'd be great if a lot more were like you.

Keep up the stellar work --- we need more folks like that at the games. everytime I yell or stand i get the stink-eye from most folks around me. I am like hey I bought this ticket I will stand if I want to.

preach. I stand when i want to. you have just as much right to sit or stand as the grumpy guy behind you. I sit most of the game in basketball, but there's nothing wrong with getting up for the team from time to time.

Agreed. If you really don't want to stand up yourself when someone in front of you stands, then stay home and watch on Madizone instead of yelling at them for standing and cheering.

Ironically I stand and yell at Madizone on a regular basis.

Yea, but normally the reason for that outrage has little to do with the game.

I lost it last night with a customer service person at Stretch. I wouldn't have a leg to stand on had we not had pretty good service over the past three years. I am just soooooo tired of the buffering issue that I lost my cool emailing back and forth to them.

Okay back to topic.

Yup that was my point. As I have stated before....charge $10 a month and I will gladly pay for a quality product.

I get what you're saying, but I doubt money is the issue that made us switch providers. I don't actually know what the reason was, but I'm pretty sure that we didn't change to save a few bucks.

Clearly we changed to go along with the CAA. All the schools did who are full members, except W&M. Go over there and check it out, its like old times.
