UTSA at Western Kentucky - Irish Rowdy - 11-20-2014 10:19 AM
i have a lot of respect for WKU. This will be the start of something special between our schools. I fly into Nashville tonight.

UTSA will return their most dynamic playmaker (RB - Jarveon Williams) after a few missed games. Hopefully the offense can improve enough to contend in this game. However it appears UTSA will once again have to rely on 3rd string QB Austin Robinson.

I expect to struggle some against the roadrunner defense but not like the meltdown we had against La Tech. I think we are held under our avg to a tune of around 28 points which would still not bold well for UTSA . Stats wise this is the worst offense team we have faced this season which is a nice change for once

I'm picking WKU 38, UTSA 20. Our defense is really good but that high powered WKU offense is going to score especially on short fields and if the Roadrunner offense continues to have 3 and outs. UTSA has only scored 1 TD in 3 games however we were missing one of our best offensive players in 2 of the games. Although the Toppers have some studs on defense it is definitely their weak spot. UTSA needs to find a way to score. Austin Robinson needs to improve his accuracy before Saturday.

You will score a TD just hopefully not one in the 4th quarter...We have been unbelievable at home, something like 50 pts a game and have shut out the last 3 teams at home in the 4th quarter....I expect this game to not be as easy as some are predicting for WKU, but still think we win by 10 or so...

The short answer is injuries. UTSA has been on their 3rd QB (RS-FR) for most of the season. If you want to look deeper, it has been inconsistent play from the oline (who were fantastic last year), bad play calling and lack of leadership.
The sad part is that the defense is the best has it been. I mean really good. The numbers are a bit skewed since the lack of offense has the D completely worn out or trying to defend on a short field thanks to 3 and outs or turnovers. Despite all of that, UTSA is still #3 in CUSA in total defense.

We know all too well what an injury to a key player like the qb can do to a team's confidence and offensive output.
I had you guys penciled in before the season to compete in the CCG and then on to a great bowl win. Then again, I had the Cajuns showing LaTech how to play the game.

I hold my breath everytime Kenneth Dixon or Cody Sokal gets up limping. Without them we would be rough shape. If WKU finds a defense and UTSA get the right QB, both will be in good shape.

Yeah we all had those expectations for this team including the fans, coaching staff and players. We thought we would beat FAU's record of the fastest team to a bowl birth (we still can btw) Even the media had this team ranked in the 40's preseason and we have dropped near the bottom. I feel bad for the 35+ seniors on this team that signed with UTSA knowing they could only practice their first year and had to wear used equipment borrowed from UTEP.

I expect the Toppers to score a lot of points. The lowest has been 35 and they have reached the 50 mark 3 times.
On the other hand UTSA should be able to move the ball and score for sure against the D.
I think the Toppers will win but would not be shocked if they dont. They have had a chance going into the 4th quarter of every game except the beatdown in Ruston.
