Rank 'Em : Week 13 - 8993 - 11-15-2014 11:47 PM

Now that week 12 is over, where do you rank 'em for week 13?

1. UL-Lafayette - Dominating much of their schedule and playing a quick and smart game every week.
2. Georgia Southern - Lost to Navy this weekend, dropping them from my number 1 spot, but they still have had a good season.
3. Appalachian State - Took down A-State in Jonesboro, making it their fourth straight win, so I'm impressed.
4. Arkansas State - Lost to App State, which isn't horrible, but we all expected a different outcome.
5. South Alabama - Pulled out a good win over Texas State this weekend.
6. UL-Monroe - Lost to ULL this weekend, but it was a close and good game.
7. Texas State - Lost a tough game to South Alabama after falling to Georgia Southern last week.
8. Troy - Although they defeated Idaho this week, it was just Idaho...
9. New Mexico State - They're showing some slight signs of improvement, but they were still slaughtered by ULL last week, putting them at number 9.
10. Idaho - They may have put up a somewhat decent fight against Troy, but they still lost... and it's still Troy.
11. Georgia State - It may be a bye week for them, but GSU still hasn't proved anything this year.

Next weeks matches:
Arkansas State at Texas State
UL-Monroe at New Mexico State
Appalachian State at UL-Lafayette

RE: Rank 'Em : Week 13 - BlackNGoldR3v0lut10n - 11-16-2014 01:33 PM

I have been away from this board for awhile. Here is where I have at after yesterday.

1) Louisiana Lafayette - Won yesterday's battle of Brother vs. Brother
2) Georgia Southern - Lost to Navy (dude, what happened?)
3) South Alabama - Survived a tough one vs. Texas State
4) Appalachian State - Shocked the conference by knocking off Arkansas St.
5) Arkansas State - Went from giving their all against Tennessee to getting knocked off against a team who lost to Liberty a few weeks earlier
6) Texas State - Had a tough loss vs. South Alabama
7) Troy - Now on a two-game win streak after beating Idaho
8) Louisiana Monroe - Had a tough loss vs their brothers from Lafayette
9) New Mexico State - Now on an eight-game losing streak
10) Idaho - Has only one conference win to date
11) Georgia State - Now on a nine-game losing streak

Predictions
Arkansas State @ Texas State - Red Wolves take care of business on the road.
South Alabama @ South Carolina - Gamecocks take care of business.
Georgia State @ Clemson (Beatdown of the Week) - Tigers uppercut the Panthers.
Louisiana Monroe @ New Mexico State - Warhawks shoot down Aggies.
Appalachian State @ Louisiana Lafayette (Game of the Week) - Cajuns keep conference title hopes alive.

I agree with his rankings, keep in mind and this is a power ranking style format. As in this is the level these teams are playing at, not what they did head to head two or three months ago.

RE: Rank 'Em : Week 13 - Saint3333 - 11-16-2014 06:46 PM

Since App lost to USA, App has inserted 6 freshman into the starting lineup and USA has sustained quite a few injuries. Power rankings App ahead of USA and Ark St., body of work USA and Ark St. Ahead of App.

And USA gets to play with Navy next. Good luck guys. GS got to play them on Senior Day, where they haven't lost in 13 straight years. Was a strange game. GS took the opening kickoff and marched right down the field for a TD. Navy answered. From that point forward it just seemed like every time GS did something good, they either had another untimely penalty or turnover (both are very uncharacteristic of the Eagles this year), and they just could't keep up. The Navy QB was having the game of his life, as they got great midfield field position possession after possession. It was just one of those games where nothing seemed to go right. Every team has had them.

I m not buying it A state still the third best team in this conference

RE: Rank 'Em : Week 13 - JTApps1 - 11-17-2014 09:59 AM

I have a hard time understanding how USA can be two spots ahead of A State when the Red Wolves destroyed them 2 weeks ago. I know USA beat us badly in Boone and we just beat A State pretty convincingly (minus special teams), but a lot has changed since our game with USA.

RE: Rank 'Em : Week 13 - ark30inf - 11-17-2014 10:07 AM

Our "power" is low right now. Beat up, thin, low morale, and a game Thursday.

Have to agree with this, I think there is nothing separating GS and ULL's resume but we are struggling down the stretch. Have to call you out a little on your question for GS as you lost to Liberty, you should be familiar with laying an egg this season. That goes for every Sun Belt team this year for that matter. The Navy loss is not any worse than ULL's to LaTech. If you look at the stat sheet we are dead even, penalties and three turnovers can flip the score quickly.

Yes you beat App head to head but we have 4 common opponents. We both lost to G Southern but we game them slightly a better game. We both beat GState and Troy, you guys beat them by a combined 17 points.....App beat them by a combined....get this 83 point. Our last common opponent is Ark State which beat you 35 and we beat and most would say dominated. You beat a young inexperience App squad that hadnt learned to win yet. A rematch @ South Alabama, vegas would be on App 7-10.

RE: Rank 'Em : Week 13 - DoubleAggie - 11-17-2014 11:43 AM

Louisiana Monroe @ New Mexico State - Warhawks shoot down Aggies.

ULM may very well win, they're favoured by a TD+, putting ULM at about 3:1 favourites.

But let's rethink the allegories here -

If NMSU were to win, it'd be 'Aggies Shoot Down Warhawks'
If ULM prevails, I'm thinking something more along the lines of 'Warhawks Soar Over Aggies'.

Here is my problem with the GSU fans like you said about us early in the season you got skull drug by Navy take it like a man I don't see any Cajuns giving a hoot about you losing an out of conference game to Navy. Yes you played two teams that matched up well against you no big deal you are still a quality team. This will not define your season nor do you have to justify your team to a university in which you already beat. Appy is feeling good about themselves and they should but until they beat the Cajuns they are just another game on our schedule and even if they do which I doubt tell them that I have already made my NOB reservation. The season is what it is.

Forget #1 and #2…

Who is 3, 4, and 5?

good question to piggy back on that if all conference teams were eligible who would be going to our three bowls and which teams in what bowl.
NOB-Cajuns
GDB-A-State
Camelia-GaSo
JMO
3-A State
4-USA
5-App St

I really have no idea what you are trying to say. There is a difference in the beginning of the year and then when you have a body of work. If you have already laid several eggs during the season how do you ask another team how it happened, that is all. We all have pre season expectations but once you get beat by an FCS team I think you ought to know how a game can turn south. Not a big deal but no Sun Belt team to my knowledge has not laid an egg to this point.

I did not have a good feeling about this game with Navy putting up massive points the previous three games and coming off a bye. I knew after the first series if we did not go score for score it could get bad. Tough loss but at worst we are gonna finish up second in the Belt our first year in. That exceeds even most of the most optimistic prognostications for even our own. Cant wait to see what we look like with a full 85 with several years of FBS recruiting under our belt in year three anything positive until then was going to a bonus for me anyway. If we do not VanGorder a coaching hire I do not see us getting any worse than this year when we are at full FBS scholly strength.
