OT - Voodoo Timekeeping in Baton Rouge? - MerseyOwl - 11-09-2014 06:35 AM

If anyone has access to the video of the Alabama / LSU game last night, I'd be interested in the actual elapsed playing time in the last 54 seconds of the 4th quarter. An average of about 5 seconds per play seems all but impossible?

Very little that happens in Refineryville surprises me anymore...nothing but PURE CLASS down there. 07-coffee3

We have come to expect nothing less out of the tiggers and anyone associated with them. Any school that finds a way to keep a player for being punished when he beats up a US Marine will see "clock management" as part of the job description.

Just ask Ole Miss fans about time keeping in baton rouge. I think LSU ran 2 plays in 3 seconds one year to beat the Rebs.

But it was the higher ranked team, one still sporting a chance at the mythical championship, that benefited from the apparent dubious timekeeping and officiating. This type of chicanery might of occurred before video (and audio) records existed but how can national journalists (obviously excluding anyone associated from ESPN) accept these manufactured results? I personally would abstain from voting for any SEC team.

LOL....I was there.....4 seconds on the clock and LSU on the 10 yard line....Bert Jones with a 3 step drop throws a slant to Jimmy LeDoux.....incomplete and 1 second left on the clock.....Rebel fans are eating their flags. LSU scores to win the game on the next play....unbelievable....Rebel fans erect a road sign in Mississippi on the Miss. LA. State line..."You are now entering Louisiana, please set your watch back 4 seconds"....true story

I found it funny that the commentators (one of them, anyway) couldn't believe that they called the personal foul against LSU. Hell, he pushed a dude right in front of the ref-- they're gonna call that every time.

Now, if that had been say.......... Marshall or LaTech doing the shoving.......... Who wants to bet the color guy would not have had a problem with the flag ?

Also, I wish the $EC refs would let those pass interference calls go without a call against our teams. They'd throw the flag every.single.time there was as much as a touch.

Having been a member of the Ragin' Cajun Football Staff late 80's early 90's I can tell you from personal experience that playing any SEC team on the road in a OOC game is like finding yourself in the Burmuda Triangle......flags suddenly appear....flags suddenly disappear

If anyone cares to give a damn about the SEC on a CUSA board, well, just piss off.

LSU did get screwed a bit towards the end. However I would like like to see as many SEC teams in the playoffs so to piss off the other P5s, and to leave the Indy open for CUSA

They also screwed themselves in those final two minutes..No way the Crumson Toads get that ball back after fumbling it inside the 10 with less than 2 minutes to go. Someone goes and picks up a stupid penalty that backs them up 15 yards, the playcalling in that moment was horrendous, even though they made the Toads use up all of their time outs, they still left too much time on the clock and to compound matters, their idiot PK kicks the damn ball out of bounds on the kickoff, another break for the Toads. The rest was gutwrenching history. I wanted LSU to beat them so badly, but they let them off the hook.
