Jameis Winston, Chris Rabb point-shaving allegations being investigated by UAB
Less than 24 hours before the Blazers' biggest game of the season, UAB officials are investigating a matter that could link defensive end Chris Rabb to a point-shaving scandal involving friend and former high school teammate Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.
"We're are aware of the allegation and looking into the matter," UAB Brian Mackin said in statement sent out by the university this afternoon, confirming a TMZ report. "That is the only comment we will have at this time."
A report surfaced earlier this week, claiming Rabb placed a $5,000 bet that Florida State would trail at the half against Louisville last week. The Seminoles fell behind 21-7 at the break before rallying to win 42-31 on the road.
Rabb, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound junior, has recorded nine tackles in nine games this season, including one in each of the Blazers' last four contests. He is still expected to suit up and play Saturday when the Blazers (5-4, 3-2 ) host Louisiana Tech (6-3, 5-0) in a key Conference USA matchup.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Legion Field.

Winston is going to get what he deserves, sooner or later. I'm concerned that the AL BOT will use the involvement of the UAB player to shut down their football program.

That would be so typical. Florida state player rapes a girl, steals crab legs, makes demeaning sexual remarks, then is involved in sports gambling and points shaving, and the powers that be shut down the Uab program.
