The angry ECU fan - MUHERD76 - 11-01-2014 02:27 PM

ECU got lured by the promise of an enormous TV deal, a better football conference, sold out stadiums, better bowl games etc..

And what happened?...None of it came to fruition. Terry Holland begged CUSA for more regional schools...CUSA added them only to see ECU bolt for false promises. Today reality sets in as they play in front of 10k fans. They now play in a conference that is more wide spread than ever before with hardly any additional TV revenue to make up the difference.

If I were an ECU fan would I be angry?...You bet I would. Sucks for ECU and I think they should have stayed in CUSA. It is what it is.

10k fans? There aren't 2,000 fans there.

ECU makes a lot more cash in the American , the American raked in $ 72 million . last year .. ECU also has a better TV deal in the American , almost every American game is on ESPN. . Everything came to fruition , you don't have the facts.

ECU just lost a conference football game , that 's all.

But ECU didn't get much of that $72 mil. And that $72 mil wasn't earned just from TV, ball credits, and bowl revenue so do act like that number is something that will be common for AAC members. Matter of fact, USF, UC, and UCONN got a large portion of that 72 mil.

ECU , Tulsa and Tulane did not get any of the $ 72 million, None of them were in the league.USF , UC and UCONN got a large chunk of all the exit fees. I think they got about $ 6 million each from the ACC , Big 10 and basketball only defections. UCF , Houston , SMU and Memphis split the rest of the exit fees.

The $ 72 million was new money earned last season , That was split among the existing members. The American made $ 30 million in bowls , $ 25 million in NCAA basketball credits and $ 20 millions from ESPN . That is $ 72 million from last season . So I believe you are incorrect . Go to Forbes and check out the numbers.

Yes, that's exactly what it was...

That 72 million does NOT include the 100 million dollar warchest to be divided 60-40 old-new schools.

25 mil in ball credits? And that was split evenly amongst AAC members? Knaw, I think not.

and? He was saying that money came from our "war chest" (estimated at 100 million) or exit/entrance/settlement fees...it's not.

The AAC is a new conference, so the bolded is a given.

Not true.

Not one conference game has ONLY been broadcast on ESPN3...

I'd much rather play on ESPNU or ESPN-News than ASN or FS2.

Point: The contract is not likely to be a long-term revenue stream. Coattails are a great ride. But don't convince us.

Then again, you all were stating each team was to earn how many millions per year/per team?

So 4 games a year on cbssports, fs1, and ASN> Every conference game on ESPN network.
