From a talent perspective, this would be a great pick up. of course, I don't have any details of why he was dismissed.
From the link I provided there was no criminal charge filed; in fact according to his lawyer his dismissal is the most absurd case he's seen in 30 years. The decision was made by the student conduct committee, and therefore the circumstances are private. IMO if BW, Selig, and Broderick are OK with taking Mr. Reavis into the ODU family, so am I.

Apparently he appealed the decision to let him go, and was denied. According to his lawyer VT did him very wrong.
