Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - Cnelson203 - 10-05-2014 09:49 AM

An abbreviated list of games on tap for this week, but there are some very interesting match-ups that will test the abilities of our pickers. Given how the slate of conference games, thus far, has produced some real shockers, I don't think many of us can be real confident in the outcome of any of these games, this week. All games are on Saturday, October 11, 2014.

ESPN Schedule for Week 7: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/scoreboard?confId=12&seasonYear=2014&seasonType=2&weekNumber=7

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall: 12:00 pm, ET; Fox Sports Network
Rice @ Army: 12:00 pm, ET: CBS Sports Network
North Texas @ UAB: 3:30 pm, ET; American Sports Network
FIU @ UTSA: 7:00 pm, ET; Fox College Sports
Old Dominion @ UTEP: 8:00 pm, ET; Sinclair

Future Conference Member
Charlotte @ The Citadel: 2:00 pm, ET

BTW, don't you just love how many of our games are on TV this year. I've almost been able to watch nothing but C-USA games. Kudos to the Conference Office for making this happen.

RE: Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - Cnelson203 - 10-05-2014 09:54 AM

Here are my picks for the week:

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall: MTSU beat us last year, so some revenge is in order. Expect this to be our toughest game, yet.
Rice @ Army: Army has been inconsistent, and Rice is improving weekly.
North Texas @ UAB: I'm going with the "good" UAB team to show up.
FIU @ UTSA: I thought long and hard about this one. FIU's defense against UTSA's fairly one-dimensional passing game. Could go either way.
Old Dominion @ UTEP: I think the Miners can run on the Monarchs

Future Conference Member
Charlotte @ The Citadel: Charlotte has been struggling on the road, but the Citadel is only 1-4, so...

RE: Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - ODUMONARCHZ1 - 10-05-2014 10:04 AM

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall: If it was at Middle Tennessee, I'd say that MT has a chance, but Marshall at home is damn near automatic I'd suspect.
Rice @ Army:Army is 2-0 at home, and their running game is prolific, but I think Rice can definitely win the game. Don't prove me wrong!
North Texas @ UAB: Toss up to me, but It should be a win for the home team.
FIU @ UTSA: I picked y'all last week FIU, and I'll ride the train another week longer.
Old Dominion @ UTEP: Of course I'll pick ODU, but all homer comments aside, ODU has proven this season that they can go across country and play better on the road. ODU has a bye week after this game so they'll be looking to go into it with a winning record and .500 in conference. Go Monarchs!

Charlotte @ The Citadel: The Citadel was decent when ODU played them. I picked against Charlotte last week and was right. I think y'all can pull it off this weekend though.

Ive heard this for the last 6 weeks and we just keep blowing people out. Last year our defense was getting used to playing under Chuck Heater and had a lil problem on the road (we also had 14 True or RS Freshman playing. This year not so much.

On the road this year the avg score has been:

Marshall 49
Other School 19

Plus as we know Marshall is a whole different animal at home. Marshall hasn't lost at home since a loss to UCF on Oct 27th 2012. We have a 10 game home winning streak right now.

In that 10 game span the scores at home have been:

Marshall 49
Other School 17

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall , Marshall gets win, becomes bowl eligible.

Rice @ Army, Rice walks out of West Point victorious.

North Texas @ UAB, It's UAB's HC game, they always play well in the HC game. They are confident coming off a big road win at WKU. Blazers should prevail.

FIU @ UTSA, FIU's impressive defense shuts down the Runners offense.

ODU @ UTEP, Should be a close one but ODU sneaks away in the end.

Future Conference Mate:
Charlotte @ Citadel

RE: Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - Cscollis - 10-05-2014 04:32 PM

Marshall will win but I want to pick MTSU a just can't.
Rice
North Texas in a upset
UTSA at home with some home cooking
UTEP a runs wild. Techs D is legit but I don't see ODU stopping the running game. UTEP goes over 300 yards rushing.

Yes I picked all of the Texas teams to win!

Not sure what you're objecting to. I stand by my statement, that this is our toughest game YET. Are you objecting to the fact that MTSU is the best team we will have played this year, so far?

Charlotte

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall - MT runs the ball 50 times, pulls ball control card & keeps CATO off the field for the UPSET! (I can hope.)
Rice @Army- Rice beats a team that's struggling more than they are.
North Texas @ UAB- Blazers be bowl bound so UAB WINS!
FIU @ UTSA-Panther chew up reeling Road Runners.
ODU @ UTEP- The Miners bounce back!
Charlotte @ Citadel- UNCC prevails.

RE: Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - Cyniclone - 10-05-2014 06:35 PM

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall -- Marshall 41-20
Rice @ Army -- Rice 17-13
North Texas @ UAB: 3:30 pm, ET -- North Texas 31-30
FIU @ UTSA: 7:00 pm, ET -- UTSA 26-20
Old Dominion @ UTEP -- UTEP 47-39
Charlotte @ The Citadel -- The Citadel 34-14

Marshall
Rice
UAB
FIU
ODU

Charlotte.

RE: Wk 7: Lines in the Sand - ODUalum78 - 10-05-2014 07:43 PM

Middle Tennessee @ Marshall: Not close. Marshall 45, MTSU 24

Rice @ Army: Rice offense is very good, good enough to win a shootout. Rice 34, Army 28

North Texas @ UAB: Almost too close to call, so I pick the home team, UAB 37, UNT 31

FIU @ UTSA: FIU defense looking better but UTSA bounces back, UTSA 27, FIU 24.

Old Dominion @ UTEP: ODU being better on the road is only the result of having our extremely thin OLine healthy for our early road games. UTEP 27, ODU 34

Future Conference Member
Charlotte @ The Citadel: Charlotte has no answer for the Citadel triple (sort of) option. Citadel 41 UNCC 21

Not objecting to anything. But everyone has hyped the next team on our schedule to be our toughest test. And every games has been won by halftime.

I agree. And it would be a coin flip between akron and mtsu on a neutral field, but since mtsu is at home, id say akron was the toughest test. Vegas strongly agrees with me as well (9.5 points at akron to 21 vs mtsu)
