Just saying ...

Still early, but if we do lose to WMU...

What does anyone see that would make one believe that this program is headed in the right direction?

And please save me the obligatory post with our most favorable cherry-picked offensive stats.

Bad play. Bad coaching.

RE: Who's Ready for a 6-6 Season? - Rocket_Fanatic - 10-04-2014 08:07 PM

I predicted 7-5 back in august with 1-3 non conference and 6-2 in MAC. Still sticking with it even if we lose...

QB under center for the first time all game when it's 1st and goal on the 2 yard line in the 3rd quarter???? And a fumble.

Idiotic coaching. This team has talent in the players...coaching staff, not so much talent, imo.

That's the third fumble by our coaches. They just suck.

RE: Who's Ready for a 6-6 Season? - RocketJeff - 10-04-2014 08:46 PM

And our crappy coaches took two touchdowns off the board with their holding penalties.

RE: Who's Ready for a 6-6 Season? - RocketJeff - 10-04-2014 08:47 PM

And now another pass interference call on our coaches. Jeeze.

Coaching is everything...

I'm ready for one. Maybe next season?

That's funny about the coaches committing the penalties. For those that aren't aware, coaches are responsible for the mental preparation and discipline of their players and are paid a ton of money for doing so.

And I hope nobody is surprised that the Rockets aren't going to be a good team since at least that Akron game last year.

Bingo...it's called discipline...sadly, we've lacked it for a long time.

I seem to recall a stretch of many low penalty games, particularly low person foul. There were those aggravating red-zone jumps when they'd go into those long counts when it should have been line up and go. Someone would get nervous and ....

They sure didn't seem to have it today. Maybe they were unnerved by the crowd.

RE: Who's Ready for a 6-6 Season? - MotoRocket - 10-04-2014 09:41 PM

Well the other thing that tends to happen with a lot of teams is that they start the season hot, and end up going the other direction. We all know we have the talent - now we just need confidence and no stupid penalties or turnovers. With Hunt, Jones, Swanson and Remy in the backfield and a senior dominated line, we should have plenty of open passing lanes. We stopped throwing to Zmolik for some reason, and it often seems like Russell does not work to get open if he is not the primary.

You have to give Western some credit though. They made some incredible catches in this game at crucial times. However, it should have been Toledo blowing them out.

Some times you start to click for no particular reason. It could happen, but quite truthfully, I was not all that impressed with the coaching job Campbell did in the bowl game against Air Force 3 years ago. It has not become much better since then. Hopefully he is doing the right things and we will start to see it come together. Just doesn't feel like that will be the case.

What did we do well tonight, other than spray stink?

Oh! The white helmets! The white helmets looked good with the white uni's!

But not with the stink!

Northern Illinois 17-14 over Kent State? What's up there?
