Basketball TV schedule - chiefsfan - 09-30-2014 12:45 PM

For non GSU, UTA, and UALR fans, basketball is that sport where you try and throw an orange ball through a 10 foot high circle.

ESPN3 released its preliminary TV schedule for basketball this year. It can pick up additional games should they warrant it.

Jan 17: Texas State at Arkansas State
Jan 24: UL-Lafayette at Georgia State
Jan 29: UL-Monroe at Troy
Feb 21: South Alabama at Georgia Southern
Feb 28: UALR at UT Arlington

Feb 7: Wildcard pick (ESPN2)
Feb 14: Wildcard pick (ESPN2)

That means our loyal friends from Boone, NC are the only SBC team not picked up for television. Which may have something to do with their APR postseason ban.

ESPN2 will televise those two mentioned wild card games, which can be any scheduled SBC game that day.

Both USA and ULL fans will take exception to this.

Man, I was wondering why we didn't advance in the NCAA tournament last year. You're supposed throw the ball "IN" the basket. I'll make sure to pass it on for this year. ;-)

RE: Basketball TV schedule - Godzilla - 09-30-2014 04:38 PM

From what I have seen of our recruiting I'm not sure we will have a single starter we had last year, i don't know if that is a good thing or not...

07-coffee3 I'll just wait for baseball

Welp, hope we have our basketball arena opened by then (currently undergoing some gas leak issues...and the ceiling is broken I believe) Its an old facility...sorry guys, this just ain't our sport

I was just clarifying because USA seemed to have a hard enough time with the concept last year.

That TV schedule sucks! Good thing basketball is just a distraction sandwiched in between football & baseball.

Losing CSS hurt. If we want the TV deals for basketball and baseball to improve, we'll need to improve the league enough that ESPN will make adjustments during our next look in..

Last year was an aberration for USA. New coach and new system and all. Historically USA can match anyone in the league. USA does care about basketball, which is what lead to the new coach.

I hear they have put in a lot of work this offseason on grasping the concept though, and look to be much improved. I hear one of the orange spheres even went through the tall circle during one practice, but with no video evidence I'm chalking it up to lore. 03-drunk

This I can agree with.

I think the GSU vs. Iowa State may be televised. I thought I saw that some where. If USA does bounce back, we play them in their barn on 2/7. Might be a match up they option.

That's a road game and under contract for the Big 12, it will be televised somewhere.

No one watches basketball until March Madness anyways and thats only because you filled out a bracket

RE: Basketball TV schedule - boroeagle2 - 10-01-2014 07:42 AM

Georgia Southern might surprise some people this year in roundball, stay tuned.

By the way our basketball venue, Hanner FieldHouse, is about to be reopened in the next week or so. Don't know exactly what was done to address the "roof" issues but we are scheduled to play our entire season there. We have about another week of playing volleyball at a local high school and then volleyball moves back there too.

Its basketball. Only a few teams in the league actually care.

If Ferguson returns this will probably be the most talented team we have had in a while and the most talented team we will have for a while.

If we're going to make any noise in basketball it's got to be this year.
