Dear AAC Commissioner - Tiger46 - 09-27-2014 07:46 PM

Don't gloat about all games being televised this weekend if I can't seen the most important of them all.

Why in the hell would a Ole Miss-Memphis game be blacked out in Dallas? SMU played today. A&M played today, what's freakin deal?

Everybody in the country had the game on ESPN3, except the SEC states. It was blacked out there b/c Fox bought the rights from ESPN, and showed it on its regional network of stations in all SEC states. Almost everywhere, those stations are available on first or second tiers.

I have second tier, I called, have to have the next level up. My guide is supposed to show only the channels I get so when I set the DVR last night it didn't tell me it was being blacked out. ESPN3 map showed the blackout but the Fox channels didn't.

03-hissyfit I had to sit here and read the entire game on gametracker and that sucks. I have FSN and FSN1 etc but the game was blacked out here in South Florida.

I didn't get the broadcast up here in the midwest. No ESPN3 because of Directv either.

But the online stream through vipbox was great for once. Better than gametracker.

I got too many virus alerts from VIP so I didn't go through with it.

Direct TV has priced themselves out of my house. Jiminy crickets, they think a lot of their TV package. The only thing I really watch is sports anyway or local area news. The rest I prefer Netflix etc.

RE: Dear AAC Commissioner - holyterror - 09-29-2014 07:44 AM

The game was very nearly a sellout. Didn't that (at one time) have some bearing on whether a game was blacked out? That may have been only true for the NFL, though.

no, tickets sold has no bearing on blackouts in NCAA

They are ridiculously high.

I have two choices, Dish or DirecTV. We do not have any cable options and I have been in this little neighborhood ten years now.

I got mad at Dish after our first five years and we went about a year with just over the air (not bad, about 30 channels in Dallas) and watching Netflix, computer etc.

But just about impossible to watch Tiger basketball so we went with DirecTV this time, for about two years now. Sat night was the first meltdown I've had with them because I couldn't get the game even though it was showing up on about 8 channels.
