I don't know the Panthers all that well, but UAB is definitely not the same team that played ANYONE in 2013.

We know UAB is nowhere near the same team as last year. Isn't even close. If FIU is basically the same team as last year we should drop 40+ on them and allow less than 20.

They're just trying to find reasons to be hopeful.

My thoughts precisely upon reading that. I was like... whaaa?

There are 85 players and a set of coaches on both sidelines. And these players and coaches will be dressed appropriately to represent their respective school. So on a macro level I would have to agree.

Bless his heart.

Well, if we're splitting hairs, the traveling team has less than 85 players in uniform. Ergo, on a micro-macro level, we should have the advantage.

Whenever I needed to make up stuff just to have an article, I made stuff up.

Basically one team won and the other lost, so it was not basically a draw.

I kinda feel sorry for them.

We still have a game or two before we discover how good or not good we really are. We've handily beaten two teams, but one has turned out to be borderline terrible (Troy) and one is FCS (A&M). We've lost to one apparently really good team (MSU) in a non-blowout, but a) their QB was not 100% and b) they may not have taken our team seriously until halftime.

FIU is 1-3 with one loss that is reasonably WTF (Bethune-Cookman) but B-C is pretty good (10-3 in 2013), and the other two losses were to Pitt and UofL, both of which are 3-1 so far in 2014.

If the team plays as solidly as it did in the first three games, it should be at least a competitive game, and hopefully we pull out a comfortable win for the good guys. That being said, we just don't have enough adequate points of comparison to know how well we'll do in C-USA. We could get steamrolled in our own WTF moment - as we have been known to do - but here's hoping it doesn't turn out that way.

Even if MSU didn't take us seriously until half time, we had some really bad miscues that cost us a game we could have won. Obviously we made great long pass plays too and executed pretty well overall, but you can't do some of the things we did on the road and win. That punt block and interception basically inside the redzone were both rough and just gave MSU 2 free TDs. Some people keep trying to diminish the final score of that game (mainly radio people) by saying "well...if you take away 3 of UAB's plays then MSU wins in a blowout". The same can be said for MSU: "If you take away 2 miraculous completely lucky plays that rarely happen in a football game, UAB probably wins on the road against MSU's best team in a long time"

FWIW, this is also their first road game of the season.

He was wrong! Turns out they were two touchdowns better this time.
