Krysten Hammon leaving Georgia State - StanMolsonMan - 09-24-2014 12:53 PM

I will go ahead and put this here. Supposedly, he was homesick and pulled some sort of shenanigans that led to his suspension. I know Texas State recruited him heavily, but per the conditions of his release, he can not go to a Sun Belt school or anyone GSU has on their schedule.

With Neal injured in the Washington game, this does not bode well for us at RB.

Wasn't the backfield already pretty thin prior to this?

Almost bare. Gerald Howse who broke his hand in the offseason was due to return now, and I believe is practicing with the team.

Without any type of running game, Arbuckle will be a sitting duck in the backfield.

Just looked up his stats:

Is he injury prone? All I can find is the 14 att and 29 yards against Samford last year.

Marcus Caffey is also taking snaps this week.

Huge blow for the Panthers. I thought that kid was a good one.

Next man up. This is where the depth issue with FCS/FBS transitions really rears its ugly head.

That's going to happen to just about any school who loses their top 1 or 2 RB's. Not just an FCS to FBS thing.

Don't search this hashtag unless you want to see a different kind of backfield.

True. Very true.

We are on our 4th and 5th string RB's right now. Swope dismissed, 1 JUCO dismissed, another JUCO suspended for the year...and a B-back last year turned H-back/TE Nardo Govan is out for the year.

One could argue we are on our 5th and 6th string RB's, but we wouldn't have signed 2 JUCO RB's without Swope being gone.

Thing is, our 4th/5th string RB, Breida, is one of the top rushers in the nation 04-cheers

Hope GaSt's offensive line is willing to lay down their bodies for Arbuckle...without a run game, front 7's are going to have their ears pinned back.

You guys are gonna have to start doing a lot of seven man protection like the Chicago Bears had to do a couple seasons ago.

RE: Krysten Hammon leaving Georgia State - panama - 09-24-2014 01:46 PM

Marcus Caffey was moved to CB at Kentucky and then ssstayed there at JUCO. But he wa sa 3 start RB.

Interested in knowing how the experiment goes.

It was a good time for a bye week.

RE: Krysten Hammon leaving Georgia State - panama - 09-24-2014 02:04 PM

Yep. Also here staff was out recruiting this week.

RE: Krysten Hammon leaving Georgia State - StanMolsonMan - 09-24-2014 02:10 PM

Speaking of bye weeks.... Georgia State gets bad news from three injured players

So basically RB 1, 2, & 3 on the depth chart gone. At least Neal is 4-8 weeks.

Can Ronnie Bell run?

I think he broke a 20 or so yard run last year, but he didn't run often. For a guy who was as under siege as he was last season, you figured if he could run, he would have done it more.

I read a newspaper article that stated GS with review Swope's status once he has went through the legal process. Is he still in school (I think he was released on bail) and where is the process at this time? Just wondering if he may be back next year.
