LSU concerned by Dillon Day's stomp - LSU04_08 - 09-23-2014 01:10 PM

JRsec, you may remember this dirty player, he sat out last year after doing the same thing to an Auburn player...

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Coach Les Miles said LSU's football staff has already submitted to the SEC office its concerns over Mississippi State center Dillon Day stomping two Tigers players in Saturday night's game.

"That's already in the works," Miles said at his Monday press luncheon. "I think not only did TV catch that, but that was something that we caught and that we sent in and certainly the conference will do the right thing."

TV cameras caught Day jumping on LSU defensive lineman Davon Godchaux's stomach after a Dak Prescott run, and then later stomping on cornerback Rashard Robinson's leg at the end of a play.

Day also drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty late in the third quarter for a hit well after the whistle.

LSU Upset With Mississippi State's Dillon Day

He should be suspended.....permanently.

I agree. What's worse is that he did it twice, with no penalty, and then got called for a penalty in the 3rd when he shoved the stuffins out of another LSU guy that wasn't looking. Well after the play was over of course. Reminds me of Nick Fairley.

He should defiantly be suspended.

It's a pretty scumbag move. Did you see his little statement he posted on Twitter?

Yeah, apologizing to MSU fans? What a scumbag. That's 299 pounds of full force in its downward motion hitting you right in the gut with cleats which could do some major damage, especially when you don't see it coming. It makes me more and more mad every time I watch it.

RE: LSU concerned by Dillon Day's stomp - Tigeer - 09-23-2014 02:15 PM

Hell, that's enough of an intentional assault for possible criminal charges.

RE: LSU concerned by Dillon Day's stomp - JRsec - 09-23-2014 02:15 PM

He's been suspended for their next game against A&M per the SEC office.

Should be more than that.

Yep. That's his second (and third) offense. He should be out multiple games at the least.

That was nice of them. So he sits out the Bye week, then the A&M game.

Wow, talk about a slap on the wrist. That's a very weak punishment.

Anybody want to bet his coach says he's learned something from this, like Jimbo said about Jameis?

Anyone want to bet he learns nothing?

Anybody want to bet he ends up doing this again sometime?

Has he been suspended before?

Well if the message is you will never again play in the SEC if it happens again, he might learn something.

So what's with BYU? UConn's QB's career is over after a concussion suffered against BYU. Texas QB David Ash's career is over after a concussion suffered the week before BYU. UVA's QB got knocked out of the BYU game with an ankle injury and will also miss the next game.

Maybe there's a reason the ACC and SEC don't want to schedule BYU. They're a pox on QBs.

That's going to happen when 25 years old are lining up against kids still in or just barely out of their teens. Or it could be pent up sexual energy being released on the field against their opponents.

BYU has no conference to keep them in line so they seem to have no problem with all the cheap shots they've taken against every team they've played this year.

And I think you're correct bullet, if they don't clean it up, they're gonna start finding themselves on the ban list of a lot of teams they might want to play.

That assumes his skull isn't made of cast iron, or that he's not a complete moron. That's an iffy proposition at best, or he wouldn't be in this position in the first place.

The SEC is NOT going to be the conference that leads the way on this subject. I don't know who would be but I do know who it wont be.

There has been at least one study (I read about it in the 1990s, IIRC) that analyzed the age-difference between BYU players and their opponents' players. The BYU players were older but the average difference was nowhere near the "25 vs 18" meme that gets thrown around so frequently. More like 2 yrs. difference (which could still give BYU an edge, but it's worth pointing out that Mormon missionaries don't spend their time lifting weights. Even the bicycling-in-pairs image is not the norm).

An updated version of that study would be a good thing.
