1) Her name has already been legally changed, while she was a legal resident of another state.

2) Her name has been legally changed for purposes of the Federal Government.

This violates multiple parts of the Constitution.

Texas has been playing this hateful game for a while now. Recognizing someone's name change isn't the same as recognizing them as married. She's not the first that has had this problem. Hopefully she will be the last.

So does every state have to recognize every law that California spews out? If a Texan went to California and took his legal guns with him California would arrest him.

It seems like California and its fleeing citizens are under that impression. They can't afford to live there anymore, but they still want all the left wing nonsense of California to apply to them wherever they go.

I can't imagine Texas ultimately winning this one in Federal court.

Federal government setting itself up for a major separatist movement. I really think it's time to see how may states want to dump the mess that the US has become and get make to a more reasonable representative Federal Government with limited powers. If TX doesn't want to recognize a CA law it should not be forced to.

Why? If California passes a law recognizing illegals then if those illegals leave the state will other states have to recognize them?

What is happening here is one state wants to pass laws for all the other states to follow.

and they will try to use the courts to make it so. More proof liberals want to abolish the Republic and replace it with a statist system.

This is the problem with migration. It's stuff that people like Rick Perry cannot grasp. Texans thump their chests about stealing businesses from places like CA and the Midwest, but what happens is all their liberal worker ants come with them. It's the locust effect.

We have federal pot laws that are ignored.

This is exactly what happened in North Carolina. In Charlotte the move of a few Northeast and a lot of west coast people and Charlotte became an extremely liberal city. In Raleigh a significant migration from the north east and Raleigh is almost as liberal as any northeastern city its size. The reason NC has went from a dark red to purple state isn't changing opinions or even changing demographics, it's damn Yankees bringing their brand of liberalism here.

It's the flaw with conservatism. Be careful what you wish for. The same can be said for the dumbasses business owners that hire illegals. They are poor, from socialist countries and will eventually vote in our elections.

Hope that landscaping company and the new F150 was worth is, jethro. Now you have liberals in office and they are about to tax your ass away.

A state refusing to accept legit Federal docs as valid is probably not going to get a lot of love in Fed court. Especially if they recognize the same docs for others...but not this particular citizen. Equal protection and all that.

The state also has no real legitimate interest in forcing her to use a name by which she is not known anywhere else.

Yea sure, right after the full faith and credit clause to the Constitution is repealed. And the 14th Amendment. And there is even a 1st Amendment issue here. You really went to UT? Certainly not for law school.

Texas won't separate over this. Most Texas recognize that you can't force people to change their names in order to get a Driver's License.

They'll just lose and end up paying Equality Texas' legal bills and the legally married ladies a bunch of money. Thanks Texas. We'll spend your money on more Gay lawsuits.

liberals in an uproar. Seems like this happened in Nebraska as well.

Glad to see the red states fighting the gaystapo.

Nebraska refusing to accept a United States passport as identification? Good luck with that.

BFD, the Feds violate their own laws and ignore when to enforce them. The state will speak here an challenge the fed to do something about it.
