B1G ... RIP - quo vadis - 09-06-2014 10:53 PM

For this year at least. What a wipeout of a day. No chance for a B1G playoff team, eh?

Never say never...B1G media hype is strong.

Meanwhile in the ACC Florida State, Louisville, Clemson, Pitt and Virginia Tech are looking very good early....04-cheers

Oh, Michigan State or Wisconsin could get there with some help. But the B1G is not in a good place

RE: B1G ... RIP - ClairtonPanther - 09-06-2014 10:59 PM

No disrespect to any of the B1G posters. It's days like today why the B1G gets ripped to shreds on this board. Y'all have fantastic fanbases and has a great TV deal. But let's face it, even when the league looks like it's making strides, it's simply an overrated league.

I agree.

Oregon's destruction of Michigan State along with Michigan's disaster at South Bend just about sealed it. Then Va Tech took out their last hope, Ohio State. Purdue losing to Central Michigan was a major blow as well.

So, I agree.

The same B1G posters that were laughing at the demise of the ACC not too long ago and talking about the Big Four

Most of the ACC is terrible.

I would say this- posted on the other thread...

Big Ten with 5 OOC losses today....
the other 4 P5 conferences combined had 2....

It is the second week of the season. I expect the irrational behavior from most ACC posters but I thought you were above that level of hype.

What a wonderfully creative and meaningful post Miko, then again...it's you.

It doesn't matter if it's week 2 or week 13, my man. I don't hate on the B1G for making money. Y'all deserve it simply for having fantastic fanbases and fantastic traditions. I'm just ripping the on field product.

RE: B1G ... RIP - LSUtah - 09-06-2014 11:07 PM

The B1G had a horrific day...Nebraska and Iowa were fortunate to say the least. Rutgers and Maryland helped carry the day to some degree...but the standard bearers OSU and MSU looked awful.[/i]

The same B1G posters that were laughing at the demise of the ACC not too long ago and talking about the Big Four

Most of the ACC is terrible.

Nebraska - taken to the wall by FCS McNeese.
Iowa - needed some last minute heroics to deal with Ball State
Purdue - spanked by a 'meh' Central Michigan
Northwestern - lost to a MAC team
Ohio State - lost to a consensus middle tier ACC school at home. By two touchdowns.
Penn State - ineligible
Michigan - got absolutely spanked by Notre Dame
Michigan State - got blown out by Oregon
Indiana - Didn't play. Only win is over a FCS team.
Minnesota - beat MTSU and a FCS
Illinois - barely beat Western Kentucky at home.
Rutgers - crappy wins over a bad Washington State team and a FCS
Wisconsin - lost to LSU and beat a FCS.
Maryland - beat a low end AAC team in a close game and a FCS
-----

The ACC has teams that can carry the standard of the league. They have some bad teams at the bottom. But I don't think the ACC wants to trade positions with you guys.

RE: B1G ... RIP - stever20 - 09-06-2014 11:18 PM

OOC vs other p5 conferences plus ND
SEC 3-0
P12 3-1
ACC 2-2
B10 1-5
B12 0-2

only one you could conceivably talk about is Big 12- and they still have Oklahoma and Baylor both undefeated in the top 10.

RE: B1G ... RIP - perimeterpost - 09-06-2014 11:19 PM

Northwestern and Purdue lost to non-P5 schools and Illinois, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa and Maryland were lucky to escape with wins over non-P5 schools.

BUT, #7MSU, #8OSU and UM all losing to P5 schools today is the reason why the P5 will NEVER voluntarily move to an all P5 non conference schedule. Never, ever, ever.

RE: B1G ... RIP - Kittonhead - 09-06-2014 11:21 PM

Number of all time BCS appearances by current B1G members.

Ohio State (10)
Michigan (5)
Wisconsin (5)
Nebraska (2)
Penn State (2)
Iowa (2)
Illinois (2)
Michigan St (1)
Maryland (1)
Purdue (1)

Compare this list to the SEC.......

Florida (7)
Alabama (6)
LSU (5)
Auburn (3)
Georgia (3)
Tennessee (2)
Arkansas (1)
Texas A&M (1)

B1G is a very top heavy conference built on Ohio State as the dominant team located in the best recruiting state. You get the feeling at a lot of the places in the B1G there is no hope of winning a national title. In the SEC everyone is playing for a national title.

Right, because the value of programs is based off of one week, during one season. Sure thing bud.
