I don't know what to make of this game. Before the season I thought thtis would be near impossible for ECU, but after last week, I think ECU could actually muster some points against USC. Their defense is a mere shell of itself from last year.
Not sure ECU can slow down Mike Davis though.

Most winnable top 25 game Ruff will see (until overrated UNC, assuming they beat Sdsu). Hope our boys can remember the chip... and rip those cocks a new one.

Almost every weakness and every strength we have will be exposed. We have trouble with physicality on the lines, BUT are also going to be going against a "back to basics" defensive secondary--the same thing that gave us the advantage on UNC.
On offense we're going to have to keep the penalties down and challenge the D-line. If they can get pressure with just their linemen and have 8 or 9 in coverage, we're in trouble. If we force them to have to rush one or two more, we can start getting those screens and quick passes going, along with tempo.
On D, it's imperative that we get that first tackle the first time.

SC is pissed. I hate them coming into this game 0-1. Really hope they're looking ahead to next week...they've had two extra days. Im really confident in the Pirates but am also confident in USC. TW would make.me feel easier...hope we can get pressure on their qb because he can sling it. If our OL holds strong I think we'll be okay.

Exactly…No way USC-E is as bad as they looked last week. We will have to play one hell of a game to have a chance to get a win.

I want this game maybe more than any other contest this season. I would literally pay $500 if it would guarantee a win, maybe a $1000 even. Half my family either lives in Columbia, went to school there, or was born there. I just don't want to hear my cocky G'dad talking smack to me again. We've only played them twice this millennium but I believe we beat them 5 out of 7 at one point from 91' to '99 when I was growing up. We need this win to rightly assert ourselves as the team to be reckoned with in this region once again.
Throughout most of the 90s a strong argument could be made that ECU was as good or better than any team in the Carolinas and the Virginias (yes I'm calling out WVU, Clemson and VT also). If ECU wins tonight, it easily could be argued that the Pirates are the best team in the region right now & we have an opportunity to prove it again and again over the next few weeks. Our destiny is in our hands and now is our opportunity to seize the moment.
