Tracking NFL Bearcats - AZBCAT - 08-26-2014 06:00 PM

Cuts so far this year down to the 75 roster spots:

Armon Binns - Dolphins
Isaiah Pead - Rams (Injured)
JK Schaffer - Bengals (Injured)
Sam Longo - Texans
Anthony McClung - Texans
Andre Cureton - Colts
Blake Annen - Eagles

Out of this group, wouldn't be surprised if Binns land somewhere. Lots of cuts for Bearcats, but that's due to them placing more guys in play for the NFL.

RE: Tracking NFL Bearcats - njbearcat13 - 08-26-2014 08:44 PM

Pead was signed to injured reserve by the Rams.

Hopefully some of the guys catch on with practice squads.

I think Binns will catch on somewhere

Yeah, I think Binns has the best chance. Hopefully someone grabs Annen for their practice squad - who with some additional work could be something.

Good catch. Cleared waivers a few days ago and ended up on Rams IR (making his $750k salary this year to rehab - not a bad gig).

Think the Bengals would possibly pick up Binns with the injury to Jones?

RE: Tracking NFL Bearcats - ThinkBigPine - 08-27-2014 07:50 AM

Didn't practice squads go from 8 players to 10?

that's the big announcement this offseason.

That would be incredibly smart - he is very good and already knows the system.

Paul Dehner said that he thinks it's unlikely as the Bengals already had one bite of the apple and passed.

He better put some of that in a mattress. He is going to have one more chance to catch on next year, if he doesn't its doubtful someone else gives him a chance.

Similarly, Schaffer is expected to end up on the Bengals' season-ending IR.

Not sure how I missed it but I hadn't heard Haruki's name lately.

Did some research and apparently he was cut/received an injury settlement last preseason. Hasn't played since.

Was hoping Winn was going to stick after they announced Leshoure was cut this morning. Looks like Theo Riddick got the call instead.

Brendon Kay also cut by Steelers today.
Ricardo Mathews cut by Texans.

Probably wraps it up for cuts. Will see if any of our guys cut end up on practice squads. Guys remaining on rosters (let me know if I missed any):

Connor Barwin (Eagles)
Brent Celek (Eagles)
Trent Cole (Eagles)
Jason Kelce (Eagles)
Kevin Huber (Bengals)
John Hughes (Browns)
Travis Kelce (Chiefs)
Jeff Linkenbach (Chiefs)
Adrian Robinson (Giants)
Jake Rogers (Dolphins)
Kenbrell Thompkins (Pats)
Mike Windt (Chargers)
Derek Wolfe (Broncos)

And we'll claim him since he has a UC degree: Pat O'Donnell (Bears)

Yeah, we've been spoiled by our kickers in the last 10 years.

Lions sign TE Michael Egnew and former UC RB George Winn to the taxi squad.

RE: Tracking NFL Bearcats - BearcatMan - 08-31-2014 03:03 PM

With all the running backs on the Lions roster, Winn didn't have a legit shot at making the squad. Glad he was retained for the season on their practice squad, kid deserves the recognition for all his hard work, and no place better to be at than your home town team.

I really thought Brendon Kay would stick with the Steelers. Their third string QB (Landry) has looked absolutely awful in preseason.

not on the Steeler's practice squad either - at least not right now
