I ahve not seen it but I am assuming the lots open 5 hours prior to kickoff. Anyone have anythin to the contrary

Tailgating may begin when parking lots open. Donor lots and Convocation Center lots open five (5) hours prior to kick-off, and remote parking lots (W, O, and X) open three-and-a-half (3.5) hours prior to kick-off. Tailgating, including the Tent-A-Gate area, is not allowed past kick-off. Plastic bottles and cans are permissible; however glass containers, kegs, fire pits or deep fryers are not welcome. Trash can and used charcoal cans are located in each parking area to help keep the area fan-friendly. Please place your trash in the bags provided and place them in the conveniently located cans.

I'm pretty sure it has said sound systems are not allowed every year. Good luck trying to stop the frats.

I am fairly sure this is a new thing.

Look, I'm all about letting the students party and have fun....but this battle of the sound system thing is ridiculous.

In all reality, since my tailgate is no longer in the East Lot the louder the better.

PS- Former Huskie Great Billy Lowe will not be making an appearance Thursday Night but will be rescheduled.

One of the frats literally played "animals" over and over and over and over. I wish they did something better than 106.3, though.

Is there any public parking lot close to the east side stands that allows tailgating? We normally tail gate in the convo lot, but that walk is not the most convenient. Any suggestions?

The LA Tan lot has previously been open for tailgating with some people charging to park there. Though the building is empty now so I am not sure if people will be charging to park there or not.

Also there is that parking lot across from Fatty's which I see has a pay and park sign. No idea if you can tailgate there.



Also if you think the walk from the Convo is not the most convenient I highly recommend you don't go to any of our away games. NIU has the MOST convenient parking for non donors than anyone in FBS that I have seen.

I have already been to a couple away games, but never had to worry about finding parking for tailgating. The walk isn't bad, but its not as close as the lot right next to pizza pros that used to be public parking. I just didnt enjoy having to lead a group of people on that walk after taillgating for 3-4 hours, haha. Makes a half mile (ten minute) walk take a lot longer than its supposed to.

Pics of the yard setup being finished and I have to say it looks darn good.

They have one of those plastic looking construction fences but this is black with NIU all over it. Very nice!

Well said HuskieJohn. I REALLY appreciate NIU tailgating & parking after seeing Chambana parking & Iowa tailgating. It was a very long way to go. So was Purdue actually. We are so lucky to tailgate so close.

I was planning on taking a half day and heading out there but have a very serious personal matter to attend to so I won't be at the game.

The walk is just long enough to down 1 maybe 2 beers!
