Spin Room Presidential Poll - Special Okie Edition - georgia_tech_swagger - 08-05-2014 09:17 PM

In this hypothetical poll, we'll take the most popular person from the Democrat, Republican, Green, and Libertarian fields for President since 1980 and run them against each other.

Pure speculation, but I don't think Reagan explodes the deficit in a non-Cold War era.

The Reagan that governed was practically not the same human as the Reagan who delivered the best Republican speech ever in his endorsement of Barry Goldwater.

Also, I wonder how the GOP of today would enjoy the Reagan amnesty.

Clinton honestly.

Oklie certainly wouldn't vote for him.

I'm really surprised by the amount of votes clinton is getting.

Why not? I think he would need a strong opposing force in the House, but he'd cooperate.

I mean, he's not that bad for a Democrat but compared to Reagan? C'mon now.

He certainly had his fair share of common sense conservative ideas too, without being a raging ideological zealot for either side.

I'm sure Reagan was good, but I don't know how much of a uniter he could be in these times. He'd be a pure conservative's best friend, but I don't know about being good for bringing America together.

Funny thing is, Bob Barr could fill three spots on that ticket.

RE: Spin Room Presidential Poll - Special Okie Edition - TigerBlue4Ever - 08-06-2014 07:34 AM

Clinton rode the tech wave in the time when it produced a high degree of prosperity, hence his popularity. During his second term he saw the writing on the wall and veered sharply to the middle. I'd like to know how he might have fared during an economic crisis. Reagan, well, Reagan's tenure speaks for itself.

RE: Spin Room Presidential Poll - Special Okie Edition - blunderbuss - 08-06-2014 07:38 AM

Was the point of this poll to show that the Libertarian would beat the Republican here?

Not that popular. He is losing 21-6 to the conservatives in the poll.
