These are all random. Pretty much Rice is a top tier and you can throw the rest in a jar and pick em for CUSA

With all of the small liberal arts colleges in here, it's maybe not an indicator of **universities** but institutions overall. Some are much more specialized than more far-reaching ones, like La Tech ODU UTEP etc.

One of these things is not like the others...

Will all due respect to you and Forbes, I don't believe that for a second.

Rice is a tier above. I dont consider any of the rest of them to be far and away better than the rest of the schools. Just depends on the ranking you use on that day.

Yup... there's a lonely entry in that list, for a school that's actually attempted to compete with the top football teams in the country and done so in my lifetime.

You could say the same thing about Marshall, but apparently they're not a member of the Shelby Thames Giant Kollege Klub, or something. So they're not on the list.

EE is right here and rather than making a quote let me ask you a question. Since student debt is a large factor in these ratings where do you think Tech would rank if the vast majority of their students had to pay for their tuition rather than getting it free under the State of Louisiana TOPS program? Tuition as you know is a huge part of student debt.

That is outstanding for Rice. Mega jealous here. Tulane in the 140's I believe.

Rice is an outstanding school and deserves a top ranking, but you know as well as anyone that these types of rankings are in many ways just . . . . . bogus. Some good schools have refused to participate with the US News rankings for just that reason: they are easily manipulated beauty contests.

I think you can take your TOPS money to USM if you want. Of course, USM does a piss poor job of marketing itself in Southeast Louisiana, preferring to tap the, um, limitless well of scholastic aptitude that is the Sumrall-Seminary metroplex, so most people don't know that.

As for LA Tech, they're just riding the tech bubble. People will realize one day that computers are annoying as ****, and the bubble will burst... not that Rust-on-Louisiana ever made all that much of a bubble.

Since you are resident of LA maybe you should focus on a different school that wastes tax payer money in the state? The primary mission of all our schools is education and Tech does it better than all the others minus LSU and Tulane. Maybe ULM should be your new project. 07-coffee3
