Montross had too many easy shots or we win. Great game.

UC had to defend UNC's size with 6'4" Eric Martin, Terry Nelson, and Curtis Bostic. Other than Blount, UC had no size. I loved all three of those guys because they played like warriors and played bigger than their size but when its all said and done, that lack of height was a detriment.

What jumps out to me watching that game is the pace. UC grabs the rebound and goes. Its painful watching UC teams now get a rebound, hold it and wait for everyone to clear out, then walk the ball up the court.

Such a shame Bob didn't win a national championship during those early years. He was really shaking things up.

As I recall, our roster starting out the '92/'93 year was...
Darrick Ford FR
John Jacobs FR
Corrie Blount SR
Mike Harris JR
Curtis Bostic JR
Eric Martin SR
Terry Nelson JR
Keith Gregor FR
Jerome Gray FR
Lazelle Durden SO?
David Evans FR
Terrance Gibson SR
Allen Jackson SR
Nick Van Exel SR

Can't remember if they all stayed.

Wasn't Huggins quoted as saying the '93 Bearcat team was actually better than the '92 Final Four team? It was a great game with UNC and oh so close.

I agree with your comment on fast breaks too. It's not a knock on the fine work that Mick has accomplished so far but more fast breaks and offensive firepower will fill a lot more seats @ Fifth-Third than an eight figure arena renovation. The defense is super but outbursts of scoring energize the crowd. With a few more of those these Bearcat teams can become elite.

Van Exel had what, 22 at half and only 2 pts in the second half. I remember Bob saying Nick was "wasted" in the second half and just didn't have his legs which is why he only scored 2 pts. But man, was he unstoppable in the first half.

I always thought the 1993 team was a lot better than the 1992 team. The 1992 team just got an easier tournament draw.

Agreed. Our forwards were good enough, just not the size and height to play against the big forwards at UNC.
