CAA giving us the finger?

Only 4 NBCSN games this year - one less than years past. JMU did get 6 TV games though.

Maryland game is on BTN so that's at least 7 games on TV.

Not bad for a lowly FCS team.

Of the 4 games, UNH, UR, and W&M each get 2. Maine and JMU get the other two spots left over.

No love for UD or Towson...ouch...

It looks like the CAA as a conference got stiffed by nbcsn. One fewer game is never a good sign.
I can't complain with 7 out of 12 games being on a tv network of some kind.
If you look at the four teams with national games, 3 of them finished near the top of the standings last year. They're valuing competitiveness over whose stands look less pathetic on game day.

What the bloody hell is ASN?

RE: No NBCSN national home games this year - BleedingPurple - 07-22-2014 08:19 AM

We have a lot of early games this year. I am most surprised that the Elon game is so early. I'm sure TV dictated that one. Since we will be playing post season football this year, I will overlook all those 12 and 12:30 games as we will have more games in late Nov. and Dec. at BFS that will be shown during a prime TV slot. DUUUUUUUUUUUKES!

RE: No NBCSN national home games this year - Miami (Oh) Yeah ! - 07-22-2014 08:19 AM

I thought the NBCSN TV Contract was for 5 games? I guess that means "up to" 5 games? And they took only 4? This is rather curious given that NBCSN has no FBS football and only the Ivy League and CAA for FCS. What do they show on Saturdays during the fall and are they not serious about competing against CBSSN, FS1, and ESPN? Their competitors are showing tons of games and NBCSB just left a game they already paid for on the table.

Makes me wonder if something else is brewing. I mean at one point NBCSN almost signed a ton of games with the AAC until ESPN used their matching clause and took them (then sold some to CBSSN)

UNH, Richmond, W&M, and Maine get home NBCSN games.

W&M and UR I kinda get, but showcasing the other 2 is silly.

American Sports Network, the new network just launched by Sinclair Broadcasting on July 17. Its a collection on mostly local CW and MyTV stations owned by them. CAA, Big South, SoCon, and CUSA are their portfolio rights.

Were the same, more, or less CSN games last year?

Well, if you include all three networks, we have one more game on TV. Unfortunately, there are a lot on ASN, which I am having my doubts that many of our cable services will provide by September.

those are some early start times

The ASN is a syndicated network of local affiliates. Looks like Sinclair has two affiliates in Virginia. http://www.sbgi.net/business/television.shtml

I promise you, they pulled up the 2013 standings and decided that way. It would make more sense for them to show fuller stadiums that look better on tv. I'm not a wise tv exec so what do I know?

That really sucks for the DC metro area fans. They have no affiliate and may not get the game while Richmond and tidewater fans do.

Thank god my Verizon gets the Richmond Fox affiliate.

Out of our 5 untelevised games, 4 of them are on the road and SFU at home. That sucks because it would benefit JMU to have more game a untelevised at home to encourage people to get to the game. The away games that are not televised are Lehigh, Albany, Charlotte, and Stony Brook. Those are a lot of miles for an away game but I'll probably do Charlotte this year since I'm in Raleigh.

RE: No NBCSN national home games this year - PurpleStreamers - 07-22-2014 09:22 AM

Gonna suck for DC and JMU's gotta find a better way to get things picked up there.

PLEASE tell me at least the STFU (6:00!) and for the love of everything good, the HC game v. WM (at least 3:30) will be later start times. Not all JMU's fault on the early times this year, but right now @UMd and v. UD are the only later games.
