Notable here is that the re-match between Michigan and Appy State for August 30 is at noon on ESPN 2.

Thanks for posting.

That Michigan/Application State was the first game the Big Ten Network ever broadcast. It was a Godsend for them.

I'm guessing now that Rutgers will play a lot of nooners at home for the non-Big Name opponents. Wisconsin would be the exception where they are a big name that is a nooner and on homecoming no less.

App State has a perfect record on both the BTN (1-0) and ESPN2 (7-0). ESPN2 will give us more coverage as we move up to FBS this year but we are happy for the exposure. Regardless of the outcome, and I expect Michigan to give us their undivided attention this year, the week of the the game leading up to this and the pregame show is going to be filled with a lot of talk about App.

I still enjoy watching the B1G schools fan reactions to the end of the game on YouTube.

I do wish we would have held out for more money or "play in Boone," though I know the later would be next to impossible, and I don't know what our other options would be for the money we are getting that week. From what I read the payout was $750,000 if we were still FCS and $1,000,000 if we are, and we are now, FBS. Not bad money but I would have love to have heard we counter-offered and UM was so desperate to get this monkey off their back they met our counter-offer of more money.

Sadly, we are not at the same level we were in 2007. Though we should be better off than we played last year. We are still a bit young.

I'm happy that they didn't hold out for more money, since your AD engaging in delusional wishful thinking would not bode well for your future success. There's no reason to expect TSUN to want to get that "monkey off their back" to the tune of overpaying for the game by any substantial amount.

Maybe some online TSUN supporters who are tired of getting it thrown at them would be willing to spend "other people's money" that way, but an AD isn't in the same boat as your random online school supporter.

I agree, it was a bit tongue in cheek about holding out for more money. $1,000,000 is good enough (though I would take more of course). I am sure UM has enough leverage that they could have said "take it or leave it" at some level to us at App. We may have countered and said to sweeten the pot if we are FBS, which at the time (in 2012) was not a guarantee, though behind the scenes I am sure things were happening to make us think to make this part of the contract. We also had a contract to play at a Southland Conference that was a return trip to their place. It had a pretty easy out to avoid playing the game if either team moved to FBS, but of the two schools only App was looking at moving. So the App AD had some ideas of what was playing out to have the contracts worded with the FCS/FBS conditions in place.

It seems most of the B1G teams have a noon game that day which means the time of the end of the game will be close to each other as was last time. If we end up 2-0 against UM, I am expecting lots of fan reactions on youtube from everyone else in the B1G, along with lots of purchasing of App attire. The amount of t-shirts purchased from out of state, esp Ohio, was some crazy number. All of which I appreciated as an alumnus as that means $ for scholarships for the university.

I do too. I'll be cheering for Appy State in that game.
