ND and Georgia announce home/home series - TerryD - 06-25-2014 02:35 PM

ND's strategy of playing many of its games in the South continues.

Brian Kelly had stated that he wanted the Irish to play some SEC teams, Jack Swarbrick said that was a goal as well.

The schools will play in 2017 in South Bend and in 2019 in Athens.

That will be a nice series to watch.

Skipping a year seems like an odd thing.

I think they are playing at Northwestern and SC and would be slotted for at least two away ACC games in 2018 so that might be why they skipped a year. future schedules 2019 could be brutal with Texas and UGA along with SC and Stanford and potentially FSU or Clemson too. Should make for good TV.

I think that Brady Hoke can shove his "chicken" comments.

RE: ND and Georgia announce home/home series - stever20 - 06-25-2014 02:53 PM

2019 could be brutal for ND. @ Texas, @ Georgia, and @ Stanford. And, if you look at their 2016 schedule- if the ACC is rotating on a 3 year basis- the home games in 2016 are Duke, Miami, and Va Tech. Even if it's just Duke and one of Miami/Va Tech on the road- that's 4 top notch road games- plus then USC at home.

Well, strength of schedule is supposed to be a weighted factor for playoff consideration.

Just looking at that map ND hit every single area that is growing in population...

true- but best team in the country would be hard pressed to survive that schedule. There's tough and there's stupid tough. They could go 9-3 and be a great team- but out of the playoff because other teams are 11-1 having not played as tough of a schedule.

Oh well, thems the breaks. Win big or stay home.

RE: ND and Georgia announce home/home series - stever20 - 06-25-2014 03:09 PM

it's just strange that they didn't make the road game in 2018- when they have USC and Navy on the road, and only 2 ACC road games- the 2015 home games are Ga Tech and Wake Forest. Even if one of Miami or Va Tech is played in 2018 2 years apart vs 2019 3 years apart- ND would have a road schedule of Miami/VT and USC.

RE: ND and Georgia announce home/home series - fsugrad99 - 06-25-2014 03:52 PM

FWIW, on the year skip, there's a good chance that ND plays FSU in 2018, and possibly Clemson too

If that 2019 schedule is accurate wouldn't they have to drop the "Shamrock Series" game to ensure that there would be six games in South Bend? Perhaps another adjustment like this season and next season where they play four ACC teams one year and then six the next is being contemplated?

I imagine ND would skip the Shamrock Series game that year. Just a guess, though.

Terry,
Cuse has two "Home" games against ND in NJ. Unless ND is planing on playing Army at West Point, you need to remove that star from central NY. No way ND goes to that sad, rundown dome.
