Football New Uniform? - dragonzden - 06-14-2014 07:16 PM

I wonder, will the Blazers have new football uniforms for this up coming season. Perhaps, the big dragon head will come back. Have any of you heard anything about something different for this coming season?

Early on at the start of HCBC tenure there was a tweet from one of the staff indicating they had been put in charge of designing new unis...

I would love to see Blaze back on the helmets.

Thank you! Did not know that.

A lot of the pictures I've seen of Clark have him with a UAB hat with Blaze on it, so hopefully that is a good sign.

The only thing I'd like to keep from the McGone tenure is the green pants.

I didn't think I'd like them, but they grew on me (so to speak).

You don't think we should keep the white-out idea?

Never again a white-out for a freaking road game...

Not no, not hell no, but whatever comes after hell no.

It probably would have been a better idea without the 4th quarter meltdown.

RE: Football New Uniform? - cb4029 - 06-14-2014 11:43 PM

I don't think the white out was a good or bad idea. It was just an idea that went along with the debut of the all white units. I have no problem with fans on the road showing up in one color to let u know who they are.

Also, I think the pants look good in all our colors. White, green, gold and black. 05-stirthepot

I was at Troy, and the white out was cool! I wore white and so did most of our fans. Our section was very distinct, and I would love for us to do it again. The only negative was that we ended up choking and losing in OT. The white shirts had nothing to do with that though.

Heard from some players about some rumors about new uniforms going around in the locker room and coaching office. I don't want to say specifics because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up and because not sure how reliable the sources are, but if they're true, it will be pretty sweet.

I'd imagine some kind of change in the uniforms, the guys already got more gear than they did in past years.

RE: Football New Uniform? - blazerjay - 06-16-2014 09:51 AM

I thought the idea was stupid. A coach should be more concerned with the gameplan than what the spectators are wearing.

The next time a shirt in the stands wins a game will be the first.

Such ideas often come to be judged by the result of the game. Such superstitions as "rubbing the rock" (Clemson) like many others attest to the lasting value placed on such things. The whiteout, like any fan unity inducing idea, is a good thing and should not be discarded based on the results of one game. Like team uniforms, what the fans wear actually has little effect on the outcome of the game, but it can still be fun to dress for a game according to some theme just to show we are there.

I sat near the UAB sections too, and there were a lot more Troy people in those sections than you think. But it's hard to tell....because everyone was wearing white.

Go look at the thread about the announcement of the idea and you'll see that many thought it was a terrible idea before the game ever started. Wearing white to an away game against an opponent whose fanbase is also wearing white because it is in the dead heat of late August/early September, was a terrible idea.

RE: Football New Uniform? - Memphis Blazer - 06-16-2014 12:34 PM

It was a very stupid idea.

RE: Football New Uniform? - BlazeN'Bham - 06-16-2014 01:13 PM

The white out was all good when we were up 31-17. Then coach decides to change QBs for no reason, kills the life of the offense.
