USA Today College Football Countdown: #86 Temple - NYCTUFan - 06-08-2014 12:46 PM

He missed the kicker coming in Austin Jones. The kicking game will be much improved.

I know i will be in the minority on this one but i really do like Temples chances at home vs Navy. Temple should put up some points and the staff has a history defending the option. I think this game goes either way and Temple pulls it out.

Damn half of the American Football Conference's team are ranked below 86. It causes these problems:

1) Weak strength of schedule for the whole conference.
2) ESPN and other TV networks will not be beating your doors down to show these teams games!
3) No increase to your TV is insight any time soon.

Tearing others down to make yourself feel better again, Wilkie? That's the behavior of someone who doesn't like themselves very much. I feel bad for you.

I'm far more interested in where they actually end up, instead of where they're predicted to end up. 07-coffee3

I'm not much into pre-season polls... but it is kind of shocking to see 11 P5 schools already listed.

We'll let the season play out.

Temple is ranked ahead of 2 SEC schools. Kentucky and Arkansas.

Yes, but 12 of the SEC's teams are ranked above 6 of the AAC's teams. 05-stirthepot

Ding!

That's something the retired drive thru bank teller can't understand. The team that was picked to finish 4th in AAC Football in 2013 ended up winning the conf, beat the Big 12 Champ in the BCS Fiesta Bowl and Top 10.

Last year's Men's National Champ UCONN, wasn't even ranked in the Top 15 preseason.

Only a sad troller upset at their own life would give credence to football lists in June.

A sad troller or maybe a sports fan who is climbing the walls during the slow off season looking for some intelligent discussion with fans who are knowledgeable about programs other than their own about the potential for their school to improve in the upcoming season.

Although lately that seems to be a rarity on this board, this board has become much more about personal attacks and discussions about what the AAC is not, what it will never be, how much better it was back when program X was in the conference and how it will never get to that level again, a decent TV deal, or be nationally recognized. Sprinkle in the discussions about which program is next to leave, which are trying the hardest to get out, who should have gotten an invitation out long ago, which programs deserve to be out, which invitations killed the conference and who got screwed over most by realignment.

He's got you two spots up from last year so I guess he predicts marginal improvement. Get that trend going even more next year!

It's much better than any other website I can promise you that. You could always try your luck on team specific forums... I wouldn't recommend UCF rivals though....

RE: USA Today College Football Countdown: #86 Temple - CougarRed - 06-08-2014 05:07 PM

The fact of the matter is that we'll never make our reputation based on how deep our conference is with better than bad football teams.

We'll make our reputation on how our top 2-4 teams perform. And the best thing for the league might be for 3-4 teams to emerge as dominant.

The MWC was the best nonBCS conference from 2005-2010. They got so good that there was a lot of talk about them becoming a BCS league. So much talk, that the other BCS leagues reacted by taking Utah and TCU away from them.

In those six years, TCU, BYU and Utah were a combined 115-29 in league play. Take out the 18 games they played against each other, and they were 97-11 against the rest of the league. That's 90% for those scoring at home. A solid Air Force squad caused three of those losses.

Rutgers, Louisville, and Maryland (missing someone aren't I) have not played a down as P5 teams. Two of those 3 will rarely if ever compete better then a mid-level P5 teams as several other P5 teams can say.

Huh? Maryland was ACC.

Rutgers is going to get slaughtered in the Big 10.

Louisville has a lot of changes to overcome this year, but they will be fine in the ACC over time. Hell, they had a bigger budget in 2012-13 than all the other ACC schools. They'll be much more successful in the ACC than TCU and Utah have been in the Big 12 and Pac 12.

Yep, messed that one up. It's hard for me to take a "P5" team like Maryland seriously when they have accumulated 1 win in 37 attempts against Penn State (1-35-1). Maryland is going to get slaughtered in the B!0. They stink and always will.
