Supe-regional question - Ranger - 06-03-2014 07:13 AM

By my count, only three national seeds and four other hosts have advanced to the super regional. That seems like a very low number. Is that a record low?

RE: Supe-regional question - d1owls4life - 06-03-2014 08:02 AM

Pretty sure the 3 national seeds remaining ties a record. Not sure about the total hosts remaining.

No national seeds remaining in one half of the bracket. Pretty crazy.

There is a super regional in Lubbock. Wow.

It is discouraging that five teams from Texas did better than Rice did. It's been a long time since that was the case.

That's the toughest thing to swallow. Especially with A&M and UT closing things out at our Regional with Reckling's largest crowd ever. Not a good impression for the program.

I was considering TCU's success.
We share the Houston recruiting area with UH, but TCU shares the entire Metroplex with no-one.
(obviously discounting the UT, A&M, etc. impacts on both)

I think 7 hosts is correct (OSU, Vandy, Miss, Louisville plus national seeds TCU, ULaLa, UVA).

There is Dallas Baptist as well as UT Arlington that have D1 programs (I don't think UTD is Division 1 in anything). And, DBU did make the tournament. I think Paul Quinn used to have a D1 program, but I'm not sure if they exist as a school any more.

I would say we share the Houston recruiting area more with TCU than UH. TCU loads up with Houston talent. Part of that pipeline was due in fact to Whitting, hence, why he was the top candidate for the UH job when it opened.

Now that Whitting's recruiting classes are coming to maturation bringing them more success, things may change and UH may indeed start to be more of a recruiting force here in town.

Especially when they have no problem signing convicted drug dealers and other "student" athletes. Let's just say it makes for a broader recruiting pool...

Yeah, I am having trouble getting over this also.

You don't expect to catch heat when you recruit a guy who's kicked out of Miami for selling drugs to an undercover cop and then having steroids and other drugs found in his apartment. Supposedly it's an automatic prison time for selling drugs on school property. He must live a charmed life. Found DUI after the drug deal according to google.

I'm just happy you're paying that much attention to our players backgrounds. We must be a threat.

The ankle bracelet kind of gave him away. It really isn't a good look with stirrups...

If you are so bothered by the comment you can just quit coming over here.

Great, Frankie caught a break. Horrible story to see someone turn their life around and probably get drafted by MLB in a couple days. As for the "students", remark, intimating that UH baseball players are stupid is weak. I know most of the guys on this year's team and they don't deserve that cheap shot.

Yup, just horrible. Kidding of course.

Seriously, I can't believe we have to go through this.
