The Queen needs to act. They can't wait 2 more years for the referendum.

The referendum they are promised get out of the EU. The colonization is a direct result of immigration laws, which England is unable to control because of their EU treaty. They are going to lose their country very soon if something isn't done. We actually have a decent sized English female immigrant population here. They get nanny type jobs in the states and marry into the country. There are about 10 of them that work at my son's preschool and we have become friends with some of them. Parts of the UK are literally unrecognizable as British. The only person that can do anything about it is Queen Elizabeth and it would have to be an extraordinary use of royal power and would result in major global controversy.

Would love to see that.

It would be quite interesting to see.

They need to do something and I think they will. I can't see the Brits just sitting back and seeing their country's heritage destroyed. It'll get to a breaking point soon.

The message of groups like the English Defense League are reinforced every time this happens. Besides, the liberals are starting to see cracks and are having more frequent points of agreement with the EDL as shariah zones pop up and radical young people argue for the collapse of democracy and the ending of the liberal society.

Okay, now I see what you mean.

First of all, that referendum cannot happen in the next two years. Logistically, it simply cannot take place on that time-frame unless some sort of national-emergency laws exist (do they?) for such a purpose, and if they do exist, then Parliament would have to invoke those laws (and there is not the slightest indication that the current majority would be interested in doing that.)

My honest guess is that there will be something called a "referendum" in the 2018-2019 range, and the "referendum" will be structured in such a way as to (1) render the get-out-of-EU side as unpalatable as possible, and (2) enable the Government to ignore the outcome if the "wrong" result occurs. Sort of a faux-referendum.

You're much more optimistic than me.

Here is the latest news on the referendum, just for information if you are interested.

It's hard to get outraged from the sale of beef as Halal as long as there's no "cost premium" to it (i.e. as long as it's not an extortion racket), and as long as you can still buy cheeseburgers with bacon.

I disagree b/c Reason is intentionally avoiding the real issue. There are reasons to get upset about this even if there is no cost premium. There is more to the analysis than a strictly immediate financial ones.

And the animal rights crowd say what?

The problem is the little liberal obstructionists that label anyone who speaks out a bigot.

Don't eat meat.

But, apparently, the imams have consented to stun the animals before slitting their throats.

Well, it's a cheap accommodation without negative consequences that I can see. As long as it doesn't extend into some kind of racket whereby companies must hire muslim butchers, etc, I don't see a lot wrong with it, granting that a substantial part of the population demands it. The alternative is that you cloister muslims into only going to restaurants run by other muslims, and that is going to happen more than enough as it is.
