OT: THE WALKING DEAD DISCUSSION - Burn the Horse - 04-17-2014 02:50 PM

[Image: walking-dead-darabont-script-review.jpg]

I know this is the "off season" for AMC's The Walking Dead, but since we ALL pretty much watch it I figured I would open this thread.

I began reading the comics a couple of months back, basically to fill my football off season. I'm hooked ya'll. Does anyone else read them?

I have passed the show timeline now and am working through the 80's in issue count via the gigantic Compendiums. Rick and them are now in charge of The Safe-Zone Community, but Neegan hasn't arrived yet. If you are ahead of me please don't post any Spoilers.

Anyways, ya'll wanna talk Walkers?

RE: OT: THE WALKING DEAD DISCUSSION - Crump1 - 04-17-2014 03:11 PM

I am addicted to the TV show and I know a little about the comics. I want to read them but haven't brought myself to drop the cash yet.

Not sure I buy that the Termites are the cannibals from the comics.

RE: OT: THE WALKING DEAD DISCUSSION - TheRevSWT - 04-17-2014 03:15 PM

Crump, I can say without hesitation that the "books" are ABSOLUTELY worth it. A guy who works for me has been getting them from the local library for free, so it might be something you would want to look into.

Of course, now, he's hitting me up for the books.

I'm reading them in the book version. Not the Compendiums or Omnibus, but like 5-8 issues in a hardback format. I like it like that because a) it makes me feel slightly less like a grown man reading a comic book, and b) I read through them so fast, it takes me like a day to go through the big book.

The only problem with the "books" is that it takes like year to have them come out.

RE: OT: THE WALKING DEAD DISCUSSION - Crump1 - 04-17-2014 03:25 PM

I wouldn't mind buying them as they come out but I want to start from the beginning. Hadn't thought about the library having them I need to check that out.

RE: OT: THE WALKING DEAD DISCUSSION - GoApps70 - 04-17-2014 03:25 PM

I am addicted to the television program but have not read the books.
Might check out the library. Are they just listed as Walking Dead there?

They are filming down the street from my house this week... But that's the norm around here... Senoia is home to the walking dead.

I have to be honest... I haven't stepped foot in a library since I graduated college.

I'll ask the guy that works for me when he gets back from vacation on Monday though. I figure he just went in and asked for "the Walking Dead" books.

One of, if not the best, show on television right now. My wife and I watch this show every Sunday night! Can't wait to see how the gang gets out of Terminus. Never read or even heard of the comics prior to this show.

You ever thought of going and trying to be a walker or anything?

I HIGHLY recommend the comics. But be forewarned, they are far more graphic and... brutal than the TV series.

For those that can't bring themselves to read the comics, there are three (that I know of) books (like legit books... no comics in it at all):

- The Rise of the Governor
- The Fall of the Governor
- The Road to Woodbury

I didn't know they had started filming yet. Maybe you can do some spying and get some spoilers for us! I am pretty sure that Terminus is Macon. They want us to believe the cannibal storyline but that is exaclty why I figure they must be something else.

Naw. A lot of people around Newnan/ peachtree city do. But I don't have time for that lol.

Senoia is actually the town of Woodbury in the show. It looks exactly like what you see. But it's called Senoia.

A group of my friends and I always try to guess the Talking Dead's "kill of the week". I may need to check out these books.

They keep it very hush hush and keep the fans far away. They won't let you even close to it... I see the actors all the time. Out at dinner, etc.

Senoia/ peachtree city is basically the Hollywood of the south

Georgia have a huge tax break to the film industry and a lot of film business's are leaving expensive Hollywood for Georgia. I believe we are the 2nd largest film production state now.

Really? It may be worth the 2 hour drive to ATL and Senoia just to check it out.

You wouldn't be alone. A lot of people from all over come down.... There is an official walking dead merchandise store in downtown Senoia and everything.

I still think AT just should try out for a Walker...win the role and then wear his costume to work. To amuse the patients you know.
