Damn. Is Wednesday still 50 cent draft night?

RE: Murder at Wayside West - MajorHoople - 04-17-2014 09:54 AM

Place must have changed dramatically since we used to hang out there.

Of course that was 30-plus years ago.

Dude was caught half mile from my house...

I have sat in that bar with chipdip. Lee. Flash. Tubbs. My kids... but it has been awhile.

How is the poker room?

RE: Murder at Wayside West - Hoekjeness - 04-17-2014 12:16 PM

My, how times change... I wasn't allowed in there 10 years ago because I was wearing a Detroit Tigers shirt. According to the bouncers at the front door, Wayside didn't allow team shirts if they weren't playing on TV that night.

The rule is actually Michigan law punished as a felony. It is a bar and even holders of CCW (CPL) permits are not legally able to carry inside.

05-stirthepot sitback as this will be interesting

Wow, what a joke. Bars like that deserve to go under. Nice crowd you're attracting.

Wow! I wonder what the whole story is.....someone doesn't just walk in and execute someone if they didn't do anything. I'm not saying he deserved it by any means, but there's got to be more to the story. Regardless, what a senseless tragedy!

Holy ****. Holy ****.

It happened in the poker room. That video is haunting.

The guy in the video says that the victim came running in and tried to hide under the table. I'm guessing he means the poker table shown in the video. Insane!

Naah, went there on occasion after graduation until we moved in '84.

Seeing his head and face imprinted on my brain.

RE: Murder at Wayside West - WMU83 - 04-17-2014 09:00 PM

you might as well go to wayside, because it will be SHUT DOWN. The victims mother is on her way down from Georgia. She is going to own Wayside. Wayside was a dump anyway, always fights and altercations at that place. How can an employee be allowed to carry a gun?

I have trouble enough going and staying asleep.

No thank you.

Sad tale. What's gotten into folks?

RE: Murder at Wayside West - EA3 - 04-18-2014 02:12 PM

Just heard the following...take it FWIW

The suspect and the deceased got into a verbal argument, apparently they knew eachother. Suspect was working at the time. Deceased hit him on the forehead with a glass. Suspect went out to his car to get a weapon. Came back inside, threatened the deceased, who then started to run, made it into poker room...and then the young man was shot and killed by the suspect.

Not sure if this is 100% true, or how many people it's gone thru before me...but it does explain the mug shot and wound on the suspect's forehead.
