Conservatives unhappy with Colbert? - Fitbud - 04-11-2014 01:23 PM

The big news on Thursday was the announcement that CBS has decided who it wants to succeed David Letterman as the host of “Late Show” after the legendary host steps down in 2015: current Comedy Central late-night host Stephen Colbert.

While many people responded to the news with pleasure and excitement, right-wing talk-radio king Rush Limbaugh was quick to offer his two cents, saying that Colbert’s hiring was a declaration of war on the American “heartland” by CBS.

Why does Rush care?

I personally don't think Colbert can carry a show. He's a one-trick pony that gets old fast.

Still, it's his shot to fail. Let the market decide.

I was under the impression, and vehemently corrected by board liberals, that you libs didn't group all Conservatives into one. I knew yall were all wrong.

This. He is an entertainer that was promoted to a bigger entertainment job. Let's see how he does.

Maybe now our young libs won't be pretending he's a newsman.

Nah, they'll still get their news from John Stewart and Bill Maher.

Past my bed time. Don't care.

True - but now there will be one less "pillar" of news for them to use. I mean, he was the Walter Cronkite of the Comedy Channel.

In all actuality, I don't care because I never watched Letterman either...

You quoted an article in a known left leaning publication. Do you think they paint with a broad brush for no reason?

But then, I work every day. I never listen to Rush as he's on mid-day and Colbert will come on late after I'm already in bed.......so I really don't care what Rush or Colbert do.

I listen to Rush when I can and I love Colbert. He and Steward are very funny.

I think the concern however is that Colbert is very popular with the younger generation. I guess his success is threatening to what some would call "Conservatives".

RE: Conservatives unhappy with Colbert? - Motown Bronco - 04-11-2014 03:08 PM

Quote:Some of the most influential voices on right-wing Twitter are outraged by CBS's latest hire

"Outraged" seems like a word that's so loosely thrown around nowadays. Are people really outraged?

Like Torch said, let the market decide.

There are far worse lefties out there than Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, so I don't have a visceral dislike for the guy. It will, however, be interesting to see how he does without the shtick he's known for.

yep...If I'm going to watch news, I tend to go with CNN...I can't stand MSNBC or FOX (although, I do like Fox's Red Eye)

Why? all they did for 30 days is cover MH370 for 99% of programming for 30 days. They sucked me in for 3-4 days. I do like some of their anchors though.

There is a difference though. Two are meant to be funny and the others are funny by accident.

Stewart and O'Reilly are funny, Maher and Hannity are not.
