The next 5? Since when does Josh ever play more than 7 or 8?

SG Crawford
SF Nichols
PF Shaq
PF Nichols

Pookie

Honestly don't need a transfer IMO unless its a big. Even then, that may only be 10 MPG

Don't sleep on BURRELL . . .

#3 JUCO in the Nation, can jump out of the gym and has a sweet shot 12-15 ft.

So, we have a true freshman backed up by a redshirt freshman at PG and a redshirt freshman coming off of surgery who has not played in two years backed up by, well I am not sure who the back up will be? Maybe Iverson of one of the JUCO players, who have never played D1 ball? We have absolutely 0 proven D1 guards on the roster this year. We could most definitely use a grad transfer who is a proven productive guard at the D1 level with 3 years experience. Down low, we have Nichols, Shaq, and King who have all proven they can be productive. And even Dom looked good in small spurts. I think Crawford, Magee, and Pookie will be good but I would love to have a proven player at the guard position.

I hear you about experience at the guard position. But in all fairness, look at the experience we had at guard last year. We had tons of experience and yet guard play was our weakest area.

You are correct in that there is never a guarantee either way. I just like my chances better with some sort of veteran leading the way. However, it is becoming more and more common for freshman to play huge roles on rosters and hopefully, if given ample playing time, are no longer playing like freshman by the end of the year.

And those seniors were freshman once.

So other than Dom who do we have on the bench for the frontline? If Shaq stays as foul prone next season as much as this year we could be thin in the front line. I was hoping we wouldn't get pushed around as much next year.

King can play the 4 and Iverson can provide minutes as a stretch 4, although IMO his minutes at the 4 should be very limited. I imagine Hawkins will be able to provide a few minutes at the 4 as well, despite being a little undersized height wise.

Especially early next year- Jackson's absence will really be felt. The other three graduated guards were all good but are more easily replaced.

Seems clear from a very very early forecast- that Shaq, Nichols and King will get major minutes, and the guard positions will be determined.

Addition by subtraction.

Absolutely, and not necessarily talking about the actual players

RE: At his point who do you think - Mimi - 04-05-2014 10:48 AM

Maybe.

Except for Jackson. But time moves on and with the bigs being better- that should actually make things easier for the new guards than what they experienced this past year. There were a lot of positive signs by the bigs but a few too many missed layups- something I do not expect to happen next year in the paint.

RE: At his point who do you think - BigTigerMike - 04-05-2014 11:03 AM

In a way I'm glad that we get a fresh new start with our guard postions. Its not a knock against Joe, Chris,Dixon and Geron because those guys have won us big time games but sometime a fresh start with a different approach on playing the game from these players with their own unique skills could do wonders for a team

Most likely due to size. If we get the real height measurements from the nba then I doubt any of the 4 senior guards were over 6'2.
