League offered full membership, and the Minutemen declined, so the MAC said see ya. Per ESPN

Why not? They were willing to go to 13 for all sports. They WANT to expand, and UMass had the first invite and declined.

JMU/Delaware to MAC for 14. Been speculated a lot in the past.

JJMu/Delaware to MAC for 14. Been speculated a lot in the past.
That would certainly be another possibility...though that depends on how willing Deleware is to move up.

They would be a good fit. I just don't see the benefit to going to 14 for the MAC and spreading the footprint.

TV markets and broadcasting rights. MAC just lost a large bargaining chip with the elimination of New England.

If UMass came in football only seems would almost assure the SBC would
offer NMSU full membership.
Then all members except the two most East and West schools.
