Eron Harris transferring from WVU... - BearcatJerry - 03-24-2014 03:20 PM

Harris is from Indianapolis and is saying he is leaving WVU, "to be closer to family..."

I wonder if UC would be a good fit for Harris. He's a fun player to watch, and a pretty good outside shot. (He lead WVU in 3-pt. shots this past season.) Would seem to fit a need this program needs, albeit he would have to sit a year barring a NCAA waiver...

What do you think?

He is a really good spot up 3 point shooter, 89 for 211, 42%, and 85%
on FTs.

That's a tough loss for them if true. Dude is a player.

I think I'd love to see him come to Clifton. Less than an hour and a half drive to Indy.

That year off could be a good thing if he were to come here. His defense needs to make major improvements. I would expect Purdue to be an early leader for him. I believe his dad played there.

Hate to see Huggs lose another key piece but if he wants to come to Clifton than it would be well worth it.

Hearing this may not be the only player leaving WVU this year, and that does not include if Staten leaves to play pro ball.

“We have enjoyed Eron and his contributions to Mountaineer basketball,” says Huggins. “Of all people, I certainly know what it is like to be closer to family and friends, that’s why I did it as a student-athlete then as a coach.”

IF he ends up here (I still think Purdue is his final destination) he would be a great addition, and would help fill the hole made with the graduation of our one "consistent" 3-point shooter on next year's squad, Jermaine Sanders.

Kevin Johnson just got out a spiral notebook and wrote "BearcatMan" in it.

Please notice, I placed the word consistent in quotation marks. He's a good shooter at times, but no one here can say he is consistent yet. He's only a freshman, I'm not dogging him at all, anyone who expects someone to come in as a freshman and shoot 45% from 3 is a lunatic, with the expanded range, change in the depth of field behind the backboard, and increase in defensive intensity, it's just rough. He could come out here and shoot mid-40's next year and I won't be surprised in the least, especially with the way he looked after he got through his opening slump.

Whaa...? Color me shocked.

Rite of spring.

Sanders had the best % for UC from 3 this year, 35 of 93, .376.
Harris made 89 3s and at 42% that is really strong. Kilpatrick made 93 3s at
about 35%.

I expect Kilpatrick to shoot a higher percentage from 3, whether it's in the NBA or overseas. He forced a lot of shots because he had to being the focal part of the offense. He won't be the main cog in the wheel wherever he goes and will probably get a lot more spot up looks.

That's what has happened to Dion Dixon overseas. Sean really isn't an incredibly good shooter, but he should be around 40% given his quick release and ability to shoot off of screens. I'll miss him, but he definitely forced a lot of shots that were just wasted possessions in the grand scheme of things this year.

Completely agree, he is a much better shooter than his percentage dictates. I also think because we didn't have consistent low post scoring none of our shooters got the consistent step in threes that are much easier to hit. I think all of our shooters are a couple points better than there numbers because of it and SK probably at least 5% because of all the forced shots he had to take.

I feel kinda bad for Huggs. Seems like he's been on a slow spiral down the last couple of years. Same thing that happened at UC before he left.
