'Good games' and 'Warm Fuzzies'..... - bluebacker - 03-16-2014 06:38 PM

....were done with after the Arizona and St. Louis losses. This team has got to find a way to get to S16 or the season taken as a whole and the careers of the seniors will have to be viewed as coming up a little bit short.

I think many folks feel this way whether they will admit it or not.

Go Tigers! Get it done.

The Sweet 16 seems unlikely now. Funny, before we were all "Sweet 16 or bust". But when you get a 8/9 seed then you just kind of assume you won't last long. The Tigers can win games, no doubt. One shot away from downing Florida. It just depends on which team shows up. The UConn/Cincy teams or the Louisville team.

There's enough blame for coaches and players alike. No fan of our program 4 years ago would've said gimme 2 first game exists and a couple round of 32s and I'm happy! We all thought we'd get back to a sweet 16. To do it this year would mean a pretty big upset. This round of players will be gone next year...slowly this is becoming a coaching issue if we don't make a run/exceed expectations at some point.

After 5 years X's seat was beginning to get a little warm but then he did ok after that.

Other than the first year I think expectations have exceeded performance every year. Year two expectations were probably unrealistic. Last year was fine except for the ending against MSU. this year most everyone was looking for at least the S16 but when you play your way into an 8 seed.....well, you've put yourself behind the 8 ball.

This could've been a 6 seed even with everything as it stands today if we had scheduled better on our 'buy' games ...

They have only themselves to blame for the seed I knew it would be ugly when Louisville was given a four seed This team need not make any excuses but I do think Pastner needs to take up for his players more After the raping at UConn something happened to this team Pastner should have at least confronted the officials at some point and let these players know he has their back You likely would have never seen Gerons phantom fifth foul and maybe we go on to win We outplayed them statistically hence the frustration Games like that can be season defining along with your coaches reaction We are going to put it all behind us now and know we can beat a Florida Louisville GW Virginia or whoever Its a new season this weekend Not trying to jump on Pastner but coaches can rally their teams by showing emotion He is not a bank teller and I get he wants to instill personal responsibility but my gosh man this team needs a coach that gets fired up if he wants it out of his players Sometimes Pastner could confront the officials it does affect team chemistry and comradrie He will get there one day but there is a psychological team reason short and long term these other coaches work the refs

A little warm is putting it mildly...didn't he have FOR SALE signs in his yard? 4-5 years of decent/good enough performance is about the limit before rational fans start to lose patience. I hope Josh gets it done and believe he will, but he's on the backside of the patience curve

When Louisville got a 4 seed, I figured the selection committee didn't put too much stock in the strength of the AAC. Before the tournament, most folks on this board (including me) were thinking that Cincinnati would win the AAC tournament and get a 2 seed and that the other top teams getting between a 3 and 6, with SMU getting an 9 or so. After the tournament, most felt Louisville would get a 2 seed and that there still would be 5 AAC member in. Not so. Most got lower seeds than most of us anticipated and SMU didn't make it. Another "snub" for the AAC is that Memphis (8), Cincinnati (5) and UConn (7) are all in the East Regional. Maybe all three will get to the Sweet 16. Let's pray for that. I really don't care too much about Louisville because of the departure from the league next year, but the Cardinals have a pretty good chance of reaching the Final 4. Anyway, I'll pulling for Memphis and the other members of the AAC. Good luck Tigers.[/i]
