MINNEAPOLIS – A Minnesota lawmaker apologized Monday for his tweet about NBA players that some saw as racist, saying he was rightly held accountable for inaccurate stereotyping.
Rep. Pat Garofalo, a fifth-term Republican from the St. Paul suburb of Farmington, tweeted Sunday night: "Let's be honest, 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in streetcrime."

True but still he should have known better. If he stopped at "...nobody would notice a difference...", only the ten NBA fans would have noticed.
I'm sure Chris Matthews will spend at least 30 minutes on this tonight. And tomorrow. And the next night.

I agree with that, but do you think what this congressman said was a smart thing to say? Personally I think it's monumentally stupid, and I would have a hard time voting for anybody who would say something so stupid.

I think saying the truth is a smart thing to say, whether it offends people or not.
Newt Gingrich proved that telling the truth doesn't win elections, but I'm more of a principled guy than sellout so it works for me.

They likely have no interest in working... The vast majority left school early for big bucks, just like NFL players. They don't want to do something they don't like, and they aren't going to flood the medical field if the NBA flopped out. And you definitely aren't going to get a job as an NBA analyst since there won't be as much to cover... Pretty much negates most of the degrees that were earned.

They don't want to do something they don't like, and they aren't going to flood the medical field if the NBA flopped out. Many Americans also wouldn't go from making 10 million a year to $40,000 a year. That's why. These are people who had one single goal in life, get to the top level of their favorite sport. Without that, the motivation is gone because they worked their entire lives for nothing now, so until that feeling goes away, who gives a fart about working.
